Upon arrival to our room after check in, the cars given to us did not work. Walked all the way around the building to the front desk to replace them, Second set did not work. Had to get maint guy to let us in. The room stank and had stains on the carpet. Called down for additional pillow and no one came. Called a second time and 45 minutes later they arrived.
Complained in the morning about the cards, room and lack of service. Spoke the the "so called" manager Ian Conway, who said he would look into it and call me back. No call. I sent a letter of disgust to him and the "actual" hotel manager. No response. Do yourselves a favour ... dont waste your time or money here, and dont get taken in by the waterpark ... Spend a few extra bucks and stay at the Great Wolf Lodge. That .... you won't regret.

We went to Niagara Falls for just a 2 day vacation and I made bookings with Americana resort (we never stayed here before). The hotel is simply the best for vacation, if you are looking for fun. The rooms are very spacious and well designed, Water Park is the best, and they also have spa, which we didn't go this time. But we would definitely go again. I recommend this hotel for all those seeking fun vacation.

The first think we noticed was how unkept the rooms were. There was wine stains on the lamp shade, old gum stains on the automan, and blood on one of the pillows. It was almost impossible to have a decent shower without the water turning from red hot to ice cold on a matter of seconds. One of the beds was tilted to one side so yuou would roll off. The restaurant in the hotel..."Jack Tanners" was way over priced for below quality food...a cup of coffee is $2.79, cereal $3.99. Water park was not worth the stay. If you want a nice place to stay, go elsewhere, just visit the water park for the day if need be.

Not Worth The Money

from A TripAdvisor Member
The hotel was in a nice location, outside of the busy city which was nice not to have so much traffic around. However, for $500 a night the room was not very classy or up to date. The dark drab colours felt as if we were staying in a motel instead of a resort. The pull out sofa bed was very uncomfortable it was like sleeping on springs and the room got very cold at night. Also, there was an awful smell in the hallways and rooms, sort of a musty, stale smell. The service was nice, everyone was friendly, but if you plan on getting any sleep during your stay then I would choose another hotel. The walls were thin, I could here the people next door during all of their conversations. Also, because of the waterpark there are a lot of families with small children - lot's of yelling and screaming and crying. I could not get a good nights rest. Oh and make sure that if you don't want a wake up call, that you let them know, because we received two every morning, one at 6 and one at 8. For $500 we expected a lot better room and a more relaxing and luxurious stay in Niagara Falls.

Ameri-Cana The Great

After reading all the neagatives reviews about this place I was scared to go. Those reviews are soo far from the truth. When we got there Check-In was reaal fast, efficent, and welcoming. They gave us a free upgrade with 2 Queen Size Bed's and a fridge. The room was very clean and the housekeeping staff excellent. The Waves Indoor Waterpark was great better then Canada Wonderland, and the Arcade had fun games. The Resturant in the hotel had excellent food, and service with a smile all in a resonable price. I would suggest the hotel to anyone.

Great

We spent two nights in April at this hotel. Our two room suite was newly renovated. The room was lovely, and very clean. The waterpark is wonderful. We couldn't get our daughter to leave! The spa is exceptional!
We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. This is a great get away spot!

We had a great mini vacation

We just returned from the Americana and had an fabulous time! my 3 kids(ages 4,5,and 7) LOVED it! I had no problems with check-in or check-out. no lines at all! The waterpark was very nice and not crowded at all. This was the best time to visit the falls because nothing was busy. We went to the Butterfly Conservatory, Clifton Hill and enjoyed it all! Our room was very clean and nice. We stayed in room 340 with no problems. Didn't hear any noises and didn't smell any odors like others have posted in their reviews. Our beds were comfortable and the pillows very fluffy. The bathroom was small, but had nice new granite like countertops. Our room even had a mini fridge that was included and coffee pot! We ate in Jack Tanners(hotel restaurant) one night, but thought it was expensive($70/4). the kids liked it though because they had tv's right at the booths!
Kids enjoyed the game room, but it is quite a rip-off. spent about $15 so they had enough tickets to get 3 tootsie rolls! each game is 2 tokens which is about $1. We spent 2 nights there at $95/nt and that included 4 passes to the waterpark for 3 days!(after check out you can still use the park for the day!) well worth the money! i can't think of anything negative to say. Would go again in a minute! Heads up: Remember your birth certificates for your kids to cross the border. i didn't take and was told about it . never thought about it. we go a few times a year and never needed before.

Will never go back

My wife made reservations for a (3) day package, She inquired information for a suite because of our size of our family, (2) Adults & (6) children, (5) under the age of (12). The person who took our reservations stated there wasn't a suite availible, but could reserve (2) double bed rooms. My wife asked the person the price for the (2) rooms, he gave her a rate of $596.00 canadian funds, including food vouchers,& passes to the water park. My wife asked twice about the rate for (2) rooms, confirming the rate she was given to her. The afternoon we checked in, we proceeded to our rooms, we tryed the entrance keys and they didn't work, I had to return to the front desk to get the keys re-programmed. The second day there we visited the water park around 10:00 am returned at 12:15 and rooms were not cleaned. I called the front desk to see when our rooms where scheduled for cleaning, the response was you have to place a tag on the outside the door. I couldn't find any tag in both rooms, I again called the front desk, to let them know, there response was we have other guests to take of. The morning we where to check out there was (2) seperate bills, for each room, that is double the price we where quoted over the phone. I went to the front desk and questioned the assistant manager, she claimed the we reserved (2) rooms, thats the price and she couldn't do anything for us. I wouldn't agree too that price if I knew.

For winter swimming, you are better off taking your family for a polar bear dip.First of all, way, way, way too expensive for what you get. $160 for a day pass for a family of four. Included is lunch (the most disgusting pizza I have even eater-or not eaten!) towels (so small and thin I could not dry my 2 year old off) and life jackets for non swimmers (they ran out of the small size 10 min. after they opened-the size of most of the swimmers). The lifeguards are rude and unhelpful. THe whole place stinks!!! Literally. Finally, a few days after returning, my daughter broke out in a horrible skin infection and is on antibiotics-my Dr. asked me if she had been in a pool lately because this type of bacteria is often present in unclean pools. Hmmm.......

Oh My God!!!!!!!Yuk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Well, no service, no clean room, sheets were not even long enough for the beds, pillows were too flat with no extra pillow case over it, beds were one of the worst ever! Ran absolutly horribly! Splash pad was bad with chlorine issues, life guards almost let a kid drown in front of me. This was the worst experience of my life. They do not care about anyones problems at the front desk. Over priced and poorly ran hotel!!!

Spa, Niagara Falls, ON

Visited Americana Resort for the waterpark with our son during spring school break. There were alot of families, but didn't feel too crowded. No long wait for any of the waterslide rides. Wonderful waterpark for younger children. Rooms and service were average. Clean. Jack Tanner's restaurant - food and prices average, but could definately use a good cleaning (there was alot of dust on the wall hangings). Overall good time and would stay again for the waterpark. Look for deals on pricing...can be a bit expensive for the rooms.

Loved the waterpark...

...fabulous waterpark...where else can you walk around in your bathing suit all day in the middle of January in Ontario ??

Water park was fabulous.... would go again only for that reason...main desk and check out disorganized ....rooms were well used and nothing great ....food was ok .... entire place seemed understaffed...

Expensive Wave Park..

from A TripAdvisor Member
My family went to the Wave Park for the day for something to do on New Years Day. I had not a clue how much it was to use the park? You can search for the prices but you will not find it. Not even at the Hotel. She then told me that will be $129.00, for 2 adults & a 2 year old.. We also did not know that the ticket came with a free hotdog or pizza & pop. We wasted lots of time waiting & money for gross natchos at Tanners.

Top Local Tips for Niagara Falls

So much to do It can get a little expensive doing all attractions the city has to offer. I advise to go either on line and down load some coupons or find a coupon book upon arrival.

Jack Tanners The kids meals were priced great and came with a drink and a scoop of ice cream which they could add toppings themselves. Some of the booths had a small tv. We all had excellent food (steaks, fahitas, chicken nuggets, burgers, and pasta). Service was good and we went early around 4:30 for dinner.

Take a short trip, not an extended stay Niagara Falls on the Canadian side is absolutely beautiful and the parks are breath taking. But the crowds are horrid.Take a short trip for a day or two but don't waste your money for an extended period of time unless you are going there to do the tourist bit. The area has changed a lot over the last 10 years and become very commercialized. Casinos, chain restaurants, etc have moved into the area.
