we stayed there during the july tornado as well. our window was broken due to storm. no hydro for 3 days. the owners quickly covered up the window. cleaned our cabin of debris. they even have breakfast ready for us for the duration of the black-out. fresh water bottles and candle and lanterns for all cabins were provided. they were even able to organize a karaoke party night, bbq party ... we all had a great time despite everything. they made the best of everything. they even offered free boating. those that need to leave were offer full refunds. we would definitely return.

We just spent the week at Evergreen Resort, Manitoulin Island. While it was a beautiful place (the whole island is gorgeous) the owner/operators had the worst customer service I've ever seen. A small tornado struck our resort at the beginning of our vacation. Minor damage, mainly downed trees. We (the guests) had to cut the large cedar tree down off our cabin because the owners had no one to do this. We spent the entire day helping to clean up storm damage and had no hydro/water for the next 3 days. While we could understand that the circumstances were extreme we asked for a discount at the end of the stay due to the lack of hydro (this would have been included in the price) and the work we did. They would not even give a $50 discount to cover the cost of the food we'd lost due to having no fridge for 3 days. We talked to a comparable resort down the road and they'd bought a large generator right after the storm so guests did not lose hydro and they had a team there right away to clean up damage. There are a lot of beautiful resorts on the island and we will definitely never stay at Evergreen Resort again.
