Top Local Tips for Yellowknife
One more place to see before you die! This is capital of NTW. Lots of aboriginal cultural influence. Excellent outdoor activities summer and winter (fishing, aroura(sp?) borealis, snowmobiling, sandcourse golf....) And great food--lots of native fish.
Good restaurants for Dinner "WildCat Cafe" (tiny log cabin in the old town that only opens in summer) - the same chef as "Le Frolic" and the only place currently open in town with an outdoor area. "Bullock's" (also in the old town and also quite small) - best fish you will ever eat. "The Office" (in the main part of town) - a 'gentleman's club' feel with the decor but the food is of a very fine standard. "Le Frolic" (in the main part of town) - upper class french restaurant and the food is fantastic. "Black Knight Pub" - traditional english pub in the main part of town with typical pub meals - but with a twist (like Caribou burgers). "Diamante's" (on the Walmart side of town) - the town's only italian restaurant - I had the bison for the first time here and it was fantastic.
