Friday Night

On a camping trip on Friday, July 19, 2009 with my family we decided to go to Tucker's Resort. I arrived earlier than my wife and paid for two nights camping. I proceeded to set up my trailer while I was still waiting for my wife to join me. She was coming with her sister in another vehicle. When she arrived at the park she forgot to register her vehicle. Mr. Tucker the owner of the park immediately chanced her down in his truck and basically attacked her for not registering her van. She did that and returned to the campsite and told me the story. I was angry that she had been treated that way and decided to go see Mr. Tucker for myself. He was very, very rude to me and told me that if I didn't like the rules to leave. I said I was okay with the rule but wasn't okay with the attitude and things he had said to my wife. I guess stuck for words he told me to go {-} myself. I couldn't believe it. I was very taken back by the his anger and his approach to the whole situation. I immediately demanded a refund ( which I received). My comment on my way out the door was that Facebook reaches alot of people and I was going to write it up as soon as I was near a computer. He came over the counter at me and at that point all gloves were off. There was some name calling going on...on his part. I was actually amazed that a grown man was actually acting this way...in front of other customers. We packed up our trailer and when to Newman Sound, Terra Nova National Park for the weekend. Which I might add is a beautiful place. So Mr. Tucker.....take your park and stick it where the sun hasn't seen light in years.

On a family camping trip in August 2008 at Tuckers Resort at Thorburn Lake, we were basically kicked out of the park while my son was in need of medical attention. To make a long story short we had stayed at the park Friday night, Saturday night and were planning on staying Sunday night. Sunday morning my 3 1/2 year old son had burned his hand and after an hour the pain had not subsided, on my way out of the park to search for a medical clinic or hospital I stopped to pay the camping fees for the night. Mr Tucker jr. informs me that I have to move to a different site as mine is booked for the night. I explained the rush I was in at the moment as I was leaving to have my son seen by a doctor. I ask if the family waiting for my site could choose another (It appeared to me that the park was more than 50 % vacant), his reply was no. I then asked if he minded if I could ask the other guests if they minded choosing another site. Mr Tucker's response was no again. I did express some frustration as my son was still in the car crying. After going back to the car to discuss with my spouse, I returned and asked Mr. Tucker Ok which site am I moving to? His response was we don't have a site for you, leave the park I explained that I would not be back for at least an hour as I was going to have my sons burn looked at by a doctor. His response was ok we have a truck, your trailer will be removed, read the contract that you signed this resulted in me dismantling the campsite immediately and leaving feeling that my camping trip had been ruined by the Tucker family. During my stay I also witnessed other I can't believe this is happening things being said and done to other guests by the Tucker's. They do not have the personality, attitude or knowledge to operate a successful tourism business. I would be ashamed to have visitors to our province think that these people are an example of Newfoundland hospitality.

Just an FYI - This park has a new owner - Mr. Tucker passed away late last summer.
