Bluesky Expeditions The dog-sled ride and tour with Gerald and Jenafor was fantastic. They use wheeled sleds when there isn't enough (or any) snow, so it doesn't matter what time of year you're visiting. It's obvious how much they care about their dogs, and all of them are approachable and love a little extra attention. The dogs love to run and couldn't wait to get going. After the ride, we had a delicious snack and a visit. All in all, a great way to spend half a day or so.

Seeing the polar bears up close away from the crowds If you want to get close (but obviously not TOO close!) to the bears at ground level, don't just do the tundra buggy! It's all well and good, but you'll only see the bears from above, and from a crowded vehicle. If you can afford the extra money, splash out and stay at a lodge. We stayed at Churchill Wild's Seal River lodge, where you get to go on walks out on the tundra with two experienced guides who are there to educate, entertain and protect you at all times. Amazing photo opportunities - we saw so many bears play-fighting and rolling in the snow, I lost count! We did the buggies for a day afterwards, which was interesting (and spacious as our group from Seal River was only 15 people), but it was nothing in comparison to staying in a luxury lodge with bears on all sides!
