Great hotel, clean, friendly staff, perfect location
from A TripAdvisor MemberI'm now excited to try other Pan Pacific Resorts around the world.
Great view of Mountain Bike Action--Friendly Service

from wonderfulworldOn the downside: The bellboy couldn't help us with our luggage because "they were out of dolleys," the reception clerk told me that "best available price" doesn't mean what it seems to mean, that an "upgrade" includes a few of a dirty mountainside torn up by mountain bikers, and that "somebody will be right there" is an idle promise.
The only ice machine is on the 2nd Floor.
A buffet breakfast is available for $14.95 per person.
This hotel has a good location and is an acceptable place to stay if you get a very good rate and are not expecting the kind of service suggested by the rack rate.
Great Hotel!!!
from Tristan316Best IN WHISTLER
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe hot tubs and pool are not only fantastic, but they overlook the whistler gondola and lifts. The steam room would have been better if it had stayed on all the time instead of just when you pressed the button. the tiles were cold, although there was steam. To me what makes this better than the Westin or other 4* hotels is the location and size. The location can NOT be beat. period. And the hotel is large but not so large that it's far to the pool, or lobby, or fitness room. I find the Fairmont and Westin to be too large. We had friends at each and all agreed that Pan pacific was the best overall choice.
My ONE BIG complaint is that the bed was not particularly comfortable, probably because it was a murphy bed, but still they could do better for the $$. There is a $20 per day parking fee and you will not need a car since there is a complimentary hotel shuttle to take you where you like....so take the Peremiter bus there.
Good times
from nismoboyOur only gripe with the property is that our room keys didn't work the first few times but then technical mishaps do happen and the staff did get it resolved pretty quickly.
The pool and hot tub outdoors is simply fantastic, although the pub downstairs could've had some more attentive staff.
Other than that, if you want to splurge a little and enjoy yourself this is a pretty decent bet.
Was better in the past
from ThaumaturgeThe staff has gone downhill in my opinion, and is not up to the level one would expect at these prices.
In any case, the Pan Pacific rooms are small, but elegant. The location is what you are paying for, and can not be beat. Truly though, you are really overpaying since few rooms in Whistler are all that far from the lifts anyway.
My recommendation is to pass on the Pan Pacific and check out other options.
Very nice hotel!

from A TripAdvisor MemberDiscriminating and condescending
from Arindam0130We booked a 2 bed room suite at Pan Pacific Lodge Whistler, BC between Oct 1 and Oct 4, 2004. My parents, wife and 2 year old child were accompanying me and we were celebrating our wedding anniversaries which are a day apart. While the initial check in and welcoming process was smooth and hassle free, we were subjected to discrimination and condescending behavior when we visited the restaurant in the premises (Aurthur's) on Sunday, Oct 3 for breakfast. The restaurant boasted a 2 for one breakfast buffet till 12 noon. When we arrived around 11 am we were made to wait for a significantly long duration before someone decided to address us. In a very condescending tone we were told to find places on the right side of the patio. When we went up there, there were no places available so we headed back to the entrance only to have one of the female ushers sharply asking us to head back there again. On insisting that there were no places available in the patio, they did not even bother to look for any place and instead just pointed us to a dark corner at the back of the restaurant which was not even lighted. On mentioning that the place was not lighted, the male person very grudgingly switched on the light for us and pointed us to a booth at the back (please note he did not take us there). On reaching the booth we found the seats shred apart with the cotton and stuffing material coming out. On being told how disrespectfully we were being treated, the male usher just shrugged his shoulders. After which I mentioned that I cannot tolerate to being treated this way and that we needed to leave, he opened an adjacent side door for us with no apologies and said " Here you go, it will help you leave the room quicker!"
This incident left a very bad taste in our mouth and we brought it up with the hotel authorities who gave us a guest survey card. Needless to say the anniversary celebration was not as enjoyable as we hoped for. I was recommended to this hotel by an employee of Pan Pacific in the highest ranks who is also a close friend. We visit Whistler very often and will make sure we don't stay at this hotel ever.
Top Local Tips for Whistler
Pan Pacific is the way to go! The town of Whistler is a designed village built around some beautiful scenery. The village turned me off, however our hotel was so grand and comfortable without being pretentious that it made up for the brick streets jammed with teens and young adults. The town is renowned for all season sporting opportunities and it sure does deliver! Whatever one can do on a mountain they have there, as well as water activities and just darn beautiful scenery and wildlife. As the Olympics are coming in 2010 they are building and adding infrastructure. I will love watching the Olumpic games on tv and remembering my stay in that wonderful hotel.
No car really neded for Whistler visit! Don't need a car in Whistler as there is great shuttle service from Vancouver and plenty of shuttle companies to transport you to and from various sites.
value minded? Stick to the pubs, cafes, and bakeries. A true resort town in that there are a lot of overpriced restaurants. We ate at some of the pubs and that was a value with great food, beer, and service. Did breakfast in our room. Lots of ways to save especially when your room has a kitchen.
