Stay away from the Mountainside at Whistler

After coming to Whistler for several years we had our first bad expericnce when we dealt with the Whistler Mountainside hotel. There is nothing redeaming about this hotel, from the rude staff, dirty rooms, small rooms this place is just awful. They charged us for a deluze one bedroom and then gave us a one bedroom and had no intention of refunding the difference. The manager basically told us we could leave or stay he didn't care but would not return our money. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone for any reason.

Like roasted leg of lamb? Try the roasted leg of lamb at the Brasserie des Artistes (and probably at La Bocca next door, too) on the Pedestriain Stroll in Whistler Village. It's a remarkably delicious meal for ~$15!

Buy your lift tickets on the way up Stop in Squamish and buy your lift tickets at the 7-eleven. Tickets there are only $65 can. If you wait until you arrive, tickets will run $80 or more for a single day.

Rated #1 for a reason I chose Whistler because it was late in the season and I wanted to be sure the resort had snow. That said, I learned it is often rated #1 in North America. I now understand why. The twin mountains are awesome for my kids and I, with all sorts of opportunities to explore and enjoy. When you combine the slopes with Whistler Village, a huge walking neighborhood of shops, restaurants, activities, and more, you are looking at a complete package. But wait, there's more... If the place was pretensious, or if I couldn't spell pretenscious, that would be a bummer. But the place seems to put function before form, and the people that work and play here all seem to have a great attitude.
