Delta Whistler Let Down

We were excited to stay in the village so close to the gondolas and read online that Delta was a nice suite. We were very disappointed. I had reserved our suite over one month prior to our visit, and yet they put us in the worst room possible- on the ground floor next to the restaurant and lobby. It was small, noisy and very annoying. We asked to switch rooms and they told us there were no others available.
Pools and hot tubs are always a wonderful way to end your day of snowboarding so we looked forward to this. But we were disappointed again. The pool was filthy as well as the hot tub and the area surrounding them. We wouldn't even dare to try them. We will never stay here again. There are plenty of wonderful suites in Whistler for the same price or less that are much more pleasant.
Comfortable and relaxing!

Our family shared a two bedroom suite. It rained the first two days, so what a plus to have such wonderful accomadations. The pool was a real bonus as our kids were able to swim even in the rain. Why not? We enjoyed our continental breakfast which was delivered to our room each day as part of our summer package. Delta Suites is far enough from the main foot traffic of the village, yet accessible to everything. The hotel staff was very accommodating. It is definitely all that we had hoped for. Expect, however, to pay a premium price for parking underneath the hotel. There are no other options for overnighters.

Awesome Place to Stay in Whistler

from BocaRatonBill
I have been to Whistler three times in the past two years (Summer and Winter). This is the best place to stay for the money. Sure you can spend 3-4x more and stay at the Fairmont, but this place is perfect for a family or couple looking to stay in a clean and modern facility that is in the heart of Whistler Village. You can choose Building One (closer to the center of the village) or Building Two (a little more quite) and the layouts are similar. The pool was nice and the hot tubs were great after skiing. The steak house attached to the Delta was fantastic (I forgot the name but it is in Building two). If you want to enjoy Whistler without breaking the bank at places like the Fairmont, Four Seasons, Pan Pacific, or the Weston, you will be happy at the Delta.

This place was beautiful in the Winter and the skiing was awesome (guys trip only), but this place really rocked in the Summer. My entire family had a blast during the Summer. There is so much to do in Whistler that you could spend a month here.

Great Hotel

from Goodstay_10
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights the last week of August. This is the second time we have stayed here. Very reasonable rates for Whistler and the rooms have a full kitchen, washer and dryer and are very clean. The staff are friendly and go above and beyond. We will keep returning to this hotel when we visit Whistler!

Loved the Delta Whistler Suites!!!

We recently spent one night at the Delta Whistler Village Suites and were very happy with our stay. The hotel is located right in the middle of the village which was great for getting around. The staff were very helpful and friendly and had a great recommendation for breakfast (Wildwood). Our room had a small kitchen, with a washer and dryer, living room in addition to the bedroom. Our view overlooked one of the town squares. The BEST part of the hotel was the pool, it was heated and was actually warm enough that you could stay in it at length, which we have not always found in all of our travels. There are also two outdoor hot tubs in the pool area, as well as an indoor one. The Whistler Gondola is a short walk from the Delta as well as most other attractions in town. You do have to pay to park a car at the hotel but from what I understand that is pretty standard for Whistler.

On a separate note if you are looking for a HUGE cheeseburger check out the Splitz Grill in Whistler Village, its a small place but you can get the biggest burger I have ever seen, fries and a coke for $9, a local place, but worth checking out.

Loved this hotel--great value

from traveladdict05
Stayed here for two nights in mid-August and was very happy with my choice.

The staff was extremely pleasant and professional throughout our stay. When we checked in, I told them I wanted a nice view so I was quickly offered a tour of 2 suites so that I could pick between them. I picked the suite with a balconey overlooking the square because it had the best view of the mountains. It made for a bit of noise at around 2 a.m. each night as for someone reason there was always someone hooting and hollering in the square at that time. Nonetheless I was very happy with my choice because it was so fabulous to sit out on the balconey and have a panoramic view of the mountains while I had my breakfast and read my complimentary newspaper.

Besides that, our suite was very large and well-furnished and very clean and comfortable, with an ensuite washer and dryer and full kitchen. It was one of the nicest hotel rooms we have stayed in--very deserving of a 4 star rating. We got a good deal and only payed $150 per night plus taxes, so we got excellent value for money.

The location of the hotel is very central which is great unless you are looking for something quiet and secluded. Exiting the hotel, you have restaurants and shops at your doorstep, or you can stroll thoughout the village without ever being more than 10 minutes walk from your hotel.

It being summer, the 2 highlights of ur our trip was taking the gondala to the top of Whistler mountain and the Jack Nicklaus golf course. Both activities are pricey but worth every penny.

A few issues

from amberm1
The Good:
Beautiful rooms, very clean, comfortable, excellent staff, great price, okay location, nice pool.

The Bad:
The layout of the rooms. Several rooms share entrances, which amplifies noise between them. We had a toddler in the room next to us who screamed from 10-11 pm and 5-7:30 am 2 nights in a row. Obviously this is our bad luck. But we wouldn't have heard it at all if the hotel was better designed.

The elevator. Building 2, which has about 60% of the rooms, has only one elevator. When it's working, it's slow and flaky. And one day it broke completely for 4 hours. My husband had to carry his 45lb downhill mountain bike up 4 flights of stairs.

The location. If you're there for skiing, this is about as far from the lifts as you can get and still be in the village. It's about a 5 minute walk, which I would hate to do carrying all my skis, boots (or even worse wearing them!), poles, mitts, etc. I asked about a shuttle and was told they do have one in the winter. But I got the impression they thought you'd be better off without it, so how bad is the shuttle? I think when people say they love the location, they love that they don't have to drive to the hill. But I have a different definition of "ski-in".

First class service

from sisterawake
My husband and I try to go up to Whistler at least once a year because I think it is one of the most beautiful places in B.C.. This was the first time that we stayed here and I thought it was wonderful. The staff at the reception desk were so nice and every time we walked by they would chat with us for a moment. They sincerely made us feel that they were happy to be there with us! The rooms were incredible and absolutely spotless! I only have two complaints but they are fairly minor. If you can, ask for a room overlooking the courtyard instead of overlooking the village. The first night we were there, our room was overlooking the village and right above a nightclub so we did not get to sleep until after 3am as we could constantly hear people yelling outside. The next morning we asked to move rooms and they told us it was no problem, just to go about our day and they would take care of everything and when we got back from being out for the afternoon, our belongings were in a new suite. My second complaint is that they don't have room service which I was kind of surprised about. Other than that, I highly recommend this hotel and if you are looking for an amazing place to have breakfast, I suggest you go to a place called The Wildwood!

Plenty of room

Picked this hotel based on previous reviews. We upgraded to a suite which was huge & worth the extra money as you then had the kitchen & washer/dryer - a huge bonus. Lots of nice freebies in the bathroom. Only disappointment was the bed (one King size) which had a definite "roll together" in the middle of it.
We ate at Milestones one night, huge portions (to us Brits), and cheap, although I would argue that their Bellini cocktail is not a Bellini how Harry's Bar in Venice would know it!
Parking at the hotel was fairly expensive - their car park was being cleaned at the time of our stay, so they were offering valet parking at no extra charge. Very prompt retrieval.
Would recommend staying here but don't go to Whistler in the week between winter & summer seasons when all the lifts are closed & you can't do any high hiking. Luckily we were only staying for 2 nights during a tour of BC.

Delta: fantastic if you take out the mediocre parts

from A TripAdvisor Member
We chose Delta Whistler Village Suites for many reasons: because they are right in the centre of the village and such a short walk to the gondolas. You’re close to the shops and restaurants and everything without driving or walking a great distance. And your 'suite' is really an apartment with everything you need. SO convenient.

My boyfriend and I had a truly romantic time, the only disappointment if you stay there is the Sacha Spa: ordinary treatments by mediocre staff, and nothing special. Everything else was special and romantic: our suite had a fireplace and an incredible view of the mountains. After a long day of skiing, we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. While we had meals outside the hotel (after all, everything in this alpine village is so close), we also enjoyed their restaurants: we had dinner at Hy’s: our meals and dinner were perfect, service too. Even casual snacks in Milestone’s, part of a chain of eateries, was fresh and tasty, if not great cuisine, but perfect for lunch. Actually, everything was great and good value (except the ‘spa’): from the hotel reception to the price (for Whistler anyway) and the restaurant and housekeeping staff who were really professional and helpful. Oh, yes: almost forgot: the skiing was great...what a mountain!

First skiing holiday

I loved this hotel. The vastness of it was amazing. The room had a great view of the mountains. The apres ski facilities very fabulous. Nothing better then to dip into a nice hot jacuzzi after a hard days skiing.
The town itself was amazing.

nice rooms

from wusthof
Went to Whistler and was pleasantly surprised with the Suites. Decorated nicely, soft bed, gas fireplace and a great view. Cleaning staff were excellent, as I am not the cleanest person. The main door to the room seemed like it was paper thin as I could hear everything going on outside in the hall though, from kids, to dogs, or just people walking by in their ski-pants - this is with the TV on! I also understand why there are 3 doors in the bathroom. 1 leads from the bedroom, 1 from the main room and 1 that divides the powder room from the shower/tub - nice, but a pain in the a**. I am just nit-picking though and this is my honest opinion ---- still a great place to stay. All it needs now is a full food and beverage department so it can be a full-service establishment! I would stay again in a heartbeat. My 2 cents

Top Local Tips for Whistler

Whistler Mountain Club The new Mountain Club restaurant is fantastic. Great food, really cool decor and vibe and to top it off, very reasonably priced. They had a three course tasting menu as part of a dining promotion for $30 CDN when we tried them out. Their signature dish of spareribs and macaroni and cheese was absolutely incredibly...yes this is fine dining, the cheese was Brie. The cheesecake for dessert had Stilton in, nice bite. The staff and service were also very, very good. There is a large heated patio as well.

eating Spaghetti Factory good value, lovely bread

great steaks Try the keg , very nice steaks and seafood
