My family stayed her for two nights on July 28th and 29th in a kingbed suite, and were very very impressed.
We got a room containing a King sized bed and TV, plus a seperate kitchen which contained everything including Cooker, microwave cooker, tea/coffee making facilities and full sized fridge/freezer, we also had a wonerful living room with a three piece suite, tv and dinning table and a bathroom. There was also a balcony.
Everywhere was very clean, and the staff did everything in their power to help. They even gave us free complimentary water when we left.
A newspaper was provided each morning, and on the evening a turn over service was provided. The hotel also provides free parking.
The hotel is ideally sited, about 200 metres from the inner harbour and BC musuem. Despite this it is in a fairly quiet location, apart from when the on site piper decides to play his bagpipes.
We found the hotel very easy to get to, despite having to drive through the city centre to reach it.

Royal Scot treats you like royalty

Don't judge by the somewhat dated exterior of the hotel, the Royal Scot is comfortable and very charming. Many quality touches await you inside. We had a one bedroom corner suite and were pleasantly surprised at how large it was. Never have we stayed in a cleaner hotel room. Every staff member was accomodating and extremely courteous. Easy walking distance to many sights. Free shuttle service with a smile. The on-site restaurant, Jonathan's, is very good.

Stayed at the Royal Scot after reading the Trip Advisor reviews. We were not disappointed. Large, comfortable, and very clean rooms. Kitchenettes were great for breakfast and snacks. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we took advantage of the free hotel shuttle. The location is the best part. It was five minute walk from the ferry terminal with our luggage. (A shorter walk than many airline terminals!) The hotel was a short walk from the Museum, Parliament Building, and the Empress Hotel. (All must see's.) A convienent laundry room for those on an extended trip. This hotel deserves its high ratings.

We stayed 2 nights at the Royal Scot and I can't say enough about how great the location is. Close to everything - the harbour, Government Street shops, the BC Museum - yet tucked away enough that it's peaceful. We had a suite and that was a bonus. We grabbed a bunch of nibblies and stored them in our room. This hotel is very clean and neat. Gift shop, pool, hot tub and exercise room just a few of the extras. Had a nice breakfast in the small dining room and had a rum on the patio...but not in that order :) Service is impeccable...but there's something about the kilts that makes me giggle

We stayed at here after reading previous reviews. Great location - just next to the Parliament building & also 5 mins walk from the Thrifty supermarket which came in very useful! We had a 1-bedroom studio suite, that has a partition between the living room & bedroom. Plenty big enough for two. This was also the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in! Some thought has gone into the facilities in the room eg magnifying mirror in the bathroom, & drying up cloths & scourers in the kitchen (you'd be surprised how some places with self-catering facilities don't provide these basics).

We stayed at the Royal Scot for 4 nights in May. We had a 1 bedroom suite with balcony overlooking the Grand Pacific Hotel. The decor wasn't the most up to date but the service from everyone in the hotel was exceptional. The suite was superb as we had two young children who shared the bedroom and we slept in the living room. The facilities were also very good, the pool clean and warm. The location is excellent just behind the Grand Pacific on a quiet treelined street. Would have stayed longer if we could. We also stayed at the Sheraton in Vancouver and the Royal Scot was much better.

We stayed at the Royal Scot Suite Hotel in Victoria in late May 2004.
Excellent value. Excellent service. They picked us up at the ferry (we came from Seattle) and we were able to check in right away. The room was small, but included a kitchenette and sitting area, with a bedroom that was separated by a partition from the living area. Everything was spotless. A very very good value. One that stands out in memory as a great place to stay. I am writing this review a year later, and I remember it quite fondly. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Not a new hotel, not a high rise, but quality and style. We were given excellent recommendations for places to eat, etc. A very nice restaurant on the premises. There are restaurants nearby and the downtown and harbor area with many restaurants and some shopping are walking distance, just don't wear your high heels. As I remember it there is a Museum of Anthropology with fabulous totems and other BC historical info not far away. And the bus station with tours to Butchart Gardens and departures for other parts of Canada is not far. Oh, I think I want to go back!

Quiet, clean, and all the extras

We just completed a four night stay at the Royal Scot Suite Hotel in Victoria, BC and we are already booking again for the summer. It is a great hotel (especially the suites) for a family or couple who want well managed, friendly, quiet accommodations. The off-season price was excellent and the added amenities were great - bathrobes, TVs in both living room and bedroom, comfy sofa bed, helpful and friendly staff, billiards and games room, nice pool and hot tub, balconies on upper floor suites, and clean, clean, clean. Excellent value and great, centralized location!

Had a wonderful 2-night stay at the Royal Scot in August 2004. Very central location, and the staff were always very helpful. Our group of 4 stayed in one of their 2-bedroom suites with a balcony, and found that the suite was worth the slightly extra cost. Hope to return to Victoria in the future, and will definitely return to the Royal Scot.
Top Local Tips for Victoria
Royal BC Museum New Year's Deal On January 2nd, the Royal BC Museum waived thier entrance fee and had entrance by donation for a few days. You can easily whole spend a day there, especially when the weather outside isn't great. It's an enourmous space and displays change all the time and it's engaging for the whole family, very young to very old!
Whale watching Don'g go in April. Chance are you won't see any whales!
Best restaurants in downtown Victoria If you like brew pubs, don't miss the Irish Times. The pub food was the best we had out of four brew houses in the area. Places where you shouldn't waste your time: Sticky Wicket and Swan Restaurant & Pub. Spinnaker's across the harbour is good, but a tad overpriced. The other good restaurant is Milestone's right on the Inner Harbour. We never had bad food there, just make sure you make a reservation on a busy weekend. The best lunch spot is Sam's Deli. Go to the 7-eleven on Government Street to pick up breakfast food: cereal, milk, and fruit. The high tea at Butchart Gardens is out of this world and well worth the money.
