Good place to stay
from WAhikerOne area for improvement would be a more comfortable bed, the beds are very hard.
Overall I would stay here again and plan to. Great location, view, friendly staff.
Not as described
from A TripAdvisor MemberBut...the hotel in no way matched our expectations from descriptions online and in guidebooks. European linens, special toiletries in the bathrooms, etc. Yes, the hotel was in a great spot, and yes the lobby windows overlooking the water were lovely. However, there was nothing special about our view, the linens, toiletries, or anything else. Once in the room it seemed very, very average. We felt is was both over-rated and overpriced.
A disappointment.
Did the hotel recently switch locations? Not at all like described elsewhere
from jsb23ncOur room looked like a typical, older hotel at an East Coast beach. The furniture was all 20+ years old and showed its wear and tear. The bedskirt had tears in it from where the maid service had run over it while vacuuming. The room also had a bit of a musty, old hotel smell. The maid service is spotty as we had twigs on our carpet (which also had several stains) and a guest comment card that was filled out August 5 (7 days prior to our stay)...did they not clean the room since then?!
The lobby to the hotel was beautiful and I thought that maybe they should have spent some of that money on renovating the rooms.
The hotel staff was courteous and helpful with restuarant recommendations.
The location was near the ferry drop-off/pick-up point and only a 10 to 15 minute stroll through a nice neighborhood to the Inner Harbour.
We ate breakfast at the hotel's restaurant and that was excellent. We should've eaten dinner there the previous night.
Overall, an average hotel at best.
Very, very nice hotel in a very nice city
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe hotel was everything we hoped for. It is located reletively close to the Ferry docks (we took the ferry from Seattle). You could walk it, but the day was warm and instead we opted for a bike rickshaw ride for $4.
The facilities were beautiful. Our room was clean and attractive. We had a corner unit with windows on two sides. Our main view was a sliding glass door onto a tiny balcony overlooking the harbor (and it was beautiful!)
This hotel is a 10 minute walk to the main harbor and it is an additional 10-15 minutes further to wander up into the shopping district. There are great little water taxis which land right behind the hotel and will take you downtown for $3.50 CDN each. We loved these little boats and took them every chance we could, this saved our feet a bit.
The resturant in the hotel is probably the best in the city; great food, wine list, staff and view. We ate there breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Nice Hotel! Little pricey
from CourtenayCrowdkids loved the pool
from winterbrrrWe enjoyed our stay very much. My children especially loved the pool area. The pool is both indoor and outdoor with a partition that is raised in the middle to make it one large pool. It was clean and well maintained. Towels are provided, as well as shampoo in the change/shower area. The front desk provides locks for the lockers. There is a large, hot whirlpool, and a sauna too. The pool is even wheelchair accessible!
Our room was a big, clean, bright corner room. There was a small balcony and windows which opened for some fresh air.
Staff at the desk were accomodating and friendly. My request for extra pillows and roll away bed were met and no charge added to the bill!!
Parking is underground and secure.
Unfortunately, we didn't have the time to try out the Blue Crab restaurant. It looked busy and reservations are recommended. We did, however, go down on the docks to Barb's Fish and Chips, on Fisherman's Wharf. The halibut was good, but that place is very busy as well.
We would recommend the Coast Harbourside to anyone visiting Victoria. We would definitely stay there again.
A Real Treat

Bug Zoo Definitely worth a visit! I missed holding a tarantula (and secretly wasn't that disappointed!), but was able to hold a scorpion and my 4 year old son held numerous other creepy crawlies. It was lots of fun and in the gift shop we were able to pick up some bug treats to take home as souveniers (for other people!) ( :
Don't miss Big Bad John's It's a Victoria's Locals favoriate! Just ask your hotel staff.
Ghostly Walks If you're looking for something a little off the beaten path, check out the Ghostly Walk tour through Victoria that happen nightly (during the summer months anyway) and meet at the Visitor Info Centre. The Guides are excellent and you get to see and hear about Victoria in an incredibly different and interesting way. I had so much fun, I can't wait to go again!
