Fantastic 2 bed suite overlooking harbour

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite at the Harbour Towers on the 11th floor, and the suite was fantastic. It was more like a 2 bedroom apartment. There were 2 balconies and many windows overlooking the main harbour. The room was lovely inside and very clean. Hotel staff and service was excellent.

The hotel location is very good - just a short walk to the harbour and shopping area. Whilst the hotel has an older appearance from the outside, the inside is renovated and very nice. Highly recommended if you can get a room with a view.

Nothing standard about Harbour Towers

from A TripAdvisor Member
We had an opportunity to stay at this fine hotel in late April of 2005 as we embarked on the first leg of our vacation to celebrate our 20th anniversary. After reading many reviews about hotels in Victoria, this establishment really stood out as one suitable for our needs and we weren't disappointed. As you'll see from the pics we opted for a very reasonably priced standard room with a harbour view. Standard is not the best way to describe these rooms as they come equipped with a microwave and bar fridge which came minus the usual over-priced liquor and snacks so there was plenty of room for the fresh fruit and bottled water we purchased. Dishes and cutlery were also included and could easily be washed up in the additional sink in the vanity area beside. Naturally, kitchen towels and dish soap were also provided. This extra vanity was a real plus as I could primp in front of the mirror as long as I liked without tying up the bathroom and frustrating my husband ;-) Fresh, soothing breezes from the harbour flowed through our room from the ample balcony doors. You do get a smaller balcony with the standard room than with a suite but was certainly sufficient for our needs and, as promised, came with an incredible view of the harbour. Keep in mind that the local seagulls are acutely aware of guests consuming tasty treats on the balcony and the fines are severe if you are foolish enough to feed them. It was a quick walk to the Inner Harbour, the Parliament Buildings, the horse drawn carriage stands and the Empress Hotel should you care to indulge in their customary afternoon tea. It was just as quick a walk in the other direction to Fisherman's Wharf, Holland Point and Beacon Hill park. The best part is that, while located close to everything you would want to see in Victoria, this hotel is not on the main drag (Belleville St) nor situated near the lively downtown bar scene. It's peacefully quiet save for the occasional blow from the ferry as it announces it's departure. The room was clean (and kept clean throughout our stay) and the cherrywood furnishings and flooring were in good repair. The staff were very pleasant, helpful and efficient. When we required a slightly later than normal checkout time, they were happy to accomodate our request and without additional cost. The only setback was the beds which we found somewhat uncomfortable yet are pretty much the norm for most hotels even of this caliber. We would highly recommend this hotel to others and look forward to returning again soon. Next trip will include a visit to their rooftop Spa!

Great View at the Harbour Towers

from A TripAdvisor Member
We got there early and asked if we could park in the parking garage and walk downtown until our room was ready and they got us a room immediately. It was wonderful to be able to relax for a few minutes and unpack so early in the day. We had a beautiful view of the harbour, It was fun to watch the floatplanes and various boats coming in and out. The hotel was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. I would stay there again !

outstanding service, great location

from kvw
We stayed at the Harbour Towers in May, 2005 and were there for a conference. From the very minute we checked in, the staff were accommodating, helpful and friendly (Anthony at the front desk was fantastic!!).

We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and the staff there were very good. The lunches provided by the hotel for the conference were above average - very good!

If you are going for business, have your paper work prepared because their business centre leaves something to be desired. It took me an hour to print a document, but the staff (including the lovely woman who worked in the gift shop and Dan at the front desk) went above and beyond to help me including trying to print behind the front desk and going to management's office to get the job done.

We stayed in a suite, and it was a huge room - very clean, quiet and suitable for our needs. We highly recommend this hotel and will stay here when we go back to Victoria.

Good hotel and good location

from bfowles
The hotel is not new, but is in a great location 1 block from Victoria's inner harbour. It is clean, safe and quite modern inside. I chose this hotel due to a great promotional rate offered in December, but have stayed here before. I wasn't disappointed, but didn't get a chance to check out the pool or exercise room, but I recall from staying here in the late 1980's that the pool is small, indoor (no windows) and not particularly attractive.

good value if you can get a discount

from A TripAdvisor Member
We found a special price of 89.00CDN - double occupancy - for this hotel advertised in our local paper (cheaper than any price I found on the internet).

The room was spacious and clean. The room had a kettle, fridge, microwave, plates and utensils. The advertise residential view was basically the view of the roof of the parking lot and the apartment building across the street. They are building a new hotel in front of this view so soon there will be no view at all.

The main problem was there was no air conditioning. We went in October and the room was incredibly warm. The fan doesn't work very. We had to have the fan running all night in order to stay cool.

All in all, if you can get it at the discount price I say it was good value, but I would think twice about staying in the summer and I would probably look somewhere else if I had to pay the price listed on their website (I think it was around 149CDN). If you are visiting off season, try calling them for a better price.

Really enjoyed the Harbour Towers Hotel and Suites

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Harbour Towers Sept. 4-6, 2004. We had a huge 2 bedroom/2 bath on the 11th floor with panoramic views of the harbour. The first impression of the hotel lobby was very positive, and the front desk staff were polished and helpful. The suite was approx. 1100 sqare feet, with a large living/dining area and kitchen. The furniture was elegant and appeared new. Our chief complaint was the bathrooms. Both were too small relative to the overall size of the suite. Only one of the bathrooms had a shower. The showerhead was so low I had to squat to wash my hair! (I'm no giant -- just 5'10"). The location was convenient -- was located on a quieter side street away from the chief hustle and bustle. Would definitely stay here again.

Good, convenient family hotel

from barnhok
We stayed 3 nights last weekend--great rate for a 2 bedroom suite with a mountain/ocean view ($179 CAD). It was extremely spacious, comfortably furnished with nice, though not high style furniture and the beds were great. We liked the location, too. Luckily we escaped the heat wave as the ceiling fans just wouldn't keep the room cool if it was hot outside. The pool was small and well used. The excercise room was quite well equipped. Front desk staff helpful, though not polished in concierge tasks. The room was a great value and we would stay there again.

Adequate digs

from A TripAdvisor Member
First the positives: the staff are very nice and try very hard to please. They do the best with what they have to work with, which is an oldish apartment building dressed up to look like a hotel. The facilities are perfectly adequate; our only complaint is that our room smelled like smoke (this is a non-smoking hotel) and there is no A/C, which was only a problem because we were getting particularly hot weather for Victoria. We stayed there late July, and got a very hard-to-beat rate of 99 dollars per night--this made the hotel a very good value. We could easily have had fancier digs at the nearby Grand Pacific for over twice the price, but chose instead to invest our savings in whale watching and other fun excursions. Overall, for the price we paid, it was a good value, and we'd do it again...but only at the same price.

Top Local Tips for Victoria

airport shuttle Make sure you take the airporter shuttle bus from the airport if you are not renting a car. Taxis from the airport tend to be expensive.

Victoria Clipper This is really a great way to get to Victoria from Seattle. It is both economical (about 100 dollars USD round trip PP) and exciting. The Clipper ships are fast, comfortable, and fun. They could keep them a bit cleaner, but I guess thats what you get with "public transportation"

Hotel Shuttle There is a free downtown shuttle available to guests staying at Harbour Towers Hotel and Suites.
