My wife and I spent four days in Vancouver at the Oceanside. The location is great, the accomodation was comfortable and the convenience of a suite with a kitchen was a plus for us. For budget travellers this is a good bet.

The Oceanside Suite Hotel is a converted apartment building right by English Bay. The 7 rating reflects its ideal location (west end Vancouver with numerous coffee shops, restaurants, walking distance to Stanley Park, downtown and the waterfront) and relatively inexpensive cost. The suite itself contained older furnishings - the only real complaint was the saggy mattress. After a visit to the Public Market (very close by) the fully equipped kitchen will be appreciated. I would recommend the Oceanside Suite for those who want to spend some time in Vancouver but aren't particularly concerned about hotel amenities.

The picture on the net made this seem like a much nicer hotel than it actually was. This place actually had people living there full time.. cooking smells drifting all around. The room was small.. way smaller than the picture suggested and the sleeper sofa had springs poking you everywhere.. i kept expecting to see prostitutes popping into the hallway. It didn't have bugs crawling around hence my rating of a 2. Vacationers beware is all I have to say!
