Top Local Tips for Vancouver
Avoid the Roxy The Roxy was way overrated. For some reason, the bouncer at the door first inspects your ID, then you go to the desk and the lady swipes your ID, then she takes your picture "for your safety". When we went, there was supposed to be a band playing. The bouncer said they would start in about 20-30 mins but we waited over an hour and they were still playing pop music over the speakers. Ugh! Beers and drinks there are way overspriced after you just paid $7/person to get in (and that's with a coupon). One pint of beer was $6! The place was dirty and very small. There was something growing all over the ceiling. After waiting over an hour, we left- and there are no refunds whether you leave before the band starts or not. Avoid this place and go somewhere where you don't have to get a cavity search before you're allowed to enter.
Vancouver Science World This place is really for the kids. A lot of hands on games and puzzles but not so much fun for five grown up adults. My favorite "play thing" was the age progression photo. But again it was really for the kids because when you're already approaching 40 and it was meant for someone 7 years old wondering how they're going to look at age 20, 50, and 70, you don't have that much further to go in years! LOL. Definitely a fun place for kids but save the price of the admission ticket unless you really want to wait your turn on the skee ball.
