Great Place to Stay!

We stayed at the Georgian Court Hotel for three nights. Each member of the staff was helpful and pleasant. The rooms have recently been redecorated and the decor was rich and relaxing. The room was very clean, and the beds were very comfortable. Each bed had 4 pillows on it of varying firmness and the feather duvet was a cozy touch.

The location was really convenient to everything we wanted to see. We were on foot the whole weekend and with the exception of taking a bus out to Granville Island, we were able to easliy walk to the resturaunts and shopping in Yaletown and the tourist shops in Gastown. The neighborhood felt very safe and walking after dark was completely comfortable.

I would highly recommend this hotel.

Would do it again.

Stayed at the Georgian Court two separate nights -- on our way to Victoria and coming back -- and enjoyed it both nights. Walked to good restaurants, galleries, other attractions. Paid a little extra the first night for the king deluxe -- wonderful room; felt like a resort! Had a standard double on the way home -- very comfortable as well.

Good location

We stayed at the GCH for one night family weekend. Good value for the deal that we had. Room comfortable; hot tub on Mezzannine enjoyable; gym well-equipped. One thing that could be improved is parking: there was none available for us in the hotel's parking downstairs, which meant having to find and pay for parking somewhere else, in the rain and for more money. A soliticitous hotel would ensure that all pre-booked guests had a space waiting for them – or at least ask ahead of time if you needed one.
Breakfast at the William Tell Restaurant downstairs was amusing: I'm 6'4", but with its very low seats and oversized bowl (and prices to match), I felt like Gulliver in Brobdingnag. Go elsewhere for breakfast.

Nice place to stay

My husband and I stayed at the Georgian Court Hotel for one night in March 2006. We went for a hockey game at GM Place, and the hotel's location is great for that. The weather was sunny, so we also had a nice walk along Robson Street. Our room was clean and the bed was quite comfortable. Even though the room was on the 12th floor, there wasn't much of a view. Parking was $9 additional per night, which I didn't know until we checked in. The restaurants in the hotel seemed a bit pricey. The staff was courteous and helpful. Really no complaints, but we will probably try the Sandman (on the same block) next time because it is also a short walk to GM Place. Breakfast at Rosie's (a couple of blocks up Robson Street) was very good.

Great location, nice clean modern well-kept rooms, good room service. Only real complaint is the small parking garage which you are charged for without being notified ahead of time. One possible complaint (which is very minor), the lobby is small and check-in took a while - quite a line at 5pm to check-in. Reserved through travel site for great price - great stay for reduced price. Will definitely consider next time.

We stayed there for a canucks game, location is wonderful, staff were great, the room was huge, and the beds were extremely comfortable. Couldn't ask for a better stay.

Impressed by Georgian Court Hotel

We were late driving to Vancouver for our 3 night stay at the Georgian Court Hotel (Oct 24-27). When we pulled into the underground parking entrance we were faced with substatial steel gates and worried for a second that we were arriving to late to park, but a pressed intercom button brought us a warm "Welcome to the Georgian Court" and the gates opened to welcome us. This was just the first of many instances where the Georgian Court and her staff showed us how warmly they hosted their guests. Check in was handled with no problem at all. We had a late dinner in the Bistro Cafe with excellent food (they emphasize Swiss cuisine, which I love, dishes like schnizel, wurst, rosti & spaetzle). With prices in the $15 - $20 range, we returned there every night even though there are many excellent places to eat in Vancouver. The hotel has a higher priced restaurant in addition but we stayed with eating at the Bistro.

The lobby is small (but what do I need a big one for?). The rooms are quite large and comfortably furnished with high quality, darkly finished furnishings. The decor is not flashy but subdued and proper. Kind of like being in a suite at a very wealthy mansion. Our room (414) did not have a notable view but was very comfortable and very clean, especially the bathroom which I appreciate. Our king bed was wonderful to sleep in. Quality linens, pillows and bedcovers made the room very nice. The room was quiet but I did note that sounds from other guestrooms could be heard from the bathroom (but I don't sleep there so I had no problem with that).

The location is excellent for the sports arena, good for Chinatown and Yaletown. You can walk to the cruise terminal, Stanley Park, Gastown or a ferry dock that accesses Granville Island but those are substancial walks. There is a Skytrain station nearby that could reduce the walk to the heart of the business district (I consider that a few blocks south of the cruise terminal). Parking was an extra $9 a day and we never moved our car for the 3 night stay.

I highly recommend the Georgian Court if you can snag a room for under $150 US dollars. We found it a great place to stay. The staff added a warm, welcome feeling to a quality room and our overall vacation experience.

Stayed here for a sporting event

Stayed here overnight to watch a hockey game at the GM Place. You really can not beat the location. The football stadium is literally right across the street. Room we stayed in was a one bedroom suite. Fluffy duvet cover and very roomy; looks like the room could be refurbished (i.e. new carpets). Didn't have a problem with the road noise as we stayed above the 5th floor. Would probably stay here again but also interested in trying out other hotels.

Wonderful Beds

We stayed at the Georgian Court for two nights in late May. The room was spacious, with a great view of the city. The beds are the most comfortable I've slept in, in this price range: soft, with beautiful linens. Everything was clean, except for a musty smelling shower curtain. Chinatown and Yaletown are a few blocks away, though it is a moderate walk to the Robson commercial area. The restaurant is good, but a bit pricey. Parking is a bargain for Vancouver. This hotel belongs to the Golden Tulip chain.

Musty hotel with no redeeming features

We were here for one night and I would strongly recommend that you look for another option. This hotel has an absolutely anonymous, musty, business traveler sort of feel to it. The rooms are not pretty at all, although they are very large. The lobby is just a small entranceway. The rate wasn't good, either. Too much money to spend here. Look elsewhere.

Top Local Tips for Vancouver

Walks Take your time to experience the skyline at both night and day from the various shoreline walks and parks. Also Lynn Valley Park got some nice walks and nature.

Stay closest to your main attraction/event Parking in Vancouver can be a major pain, so plan to stay as close to where you will be doing most of your activities to save you time, money and stress. Even though the sky train is quite handy, the costs can add up fast when you are travelling with a family or other group. Factor all those costs in when selecting the best hotel option. Also, keep in mind that in the evening, some sky train stations may not be totally safe, so plan alternate transport for evenings if you are not walking distance to your hotel.

Grouse Mountain Go to Waterfront Station on the Skytrain - Catch the seabus to North/West Vancouver and then the bus to Grouse Mountain.( for 2.5 canadian dollars!) Pay to go on the Chair Lift to the top. In April there is still snow up there so take your skis and snowboard. The views are tremendous so go on a clear day.
