Historical Traveller Reviews of Four Seasons Vancouver Hotel
one of top 3 hotels in Vancouver
from KevinSdammitVery high end, extreme service, lavish surroundings.
The location is perfect, along with the Hotel Vancouver across the street, directly across from the Vancouver Art Gallery, the back side of which is Robson Square, the start of Robson street (majour attraction).
Also, the hotel is attached to Pacific Centre, which offers a nice mix of high end & medium end shopping.
It's pricey, but in this instance, you get what you pay for.
Nice but not quite as expected
from dcroseUnless you want to be able to directly access the shopping mall, I prefer the Vancouver Fairmont Waterfront which is on the water only 4 blocks away. I find the service comparable but the hotel newer and with better views.
Great Visit
from A TripAdvisor MemberOur room was a corner deluxe which was spacious with plenty of room for my family. Furnishings were comfortable and understated, not lavish or showy which was fine with me. Location was perfect, it was very easy to get around the downtown area. The hotel is also connected to the Pacific Center mall which was convenient for shopping, yet completly removed from the Christmas crowds once you enter the second floor lobby of the hotel.
Inviting
from Cortez55403In sum, the service of the hotel made the stay. The room was very large -- living/dining room separating king bedroom on one side and double bedroom on the other -- ensuring privacy for all. 3 baths and 3 tvs helped as well.
Most impressive was the staff at the front desk and the concierge. Because this was our first visit to Vancouver, we asked for many recommendations re restaurants, tourists sites, directions, etc. They were superb and right on the money in each case (eg. recommended "Coast" restaurant for a newer, hipper restaurant .. excellent and fun and not in the guidebooks).
Location in downtown was great as shopping was literally connected to the lobby. Holt Renfrew dept store was was a wonderful surprise -- think Bergdorf Goodman without the attitude. Very stylish group of clothing boutiques within Holt Renfrew.
Bar was also lively and fun for cocktails. Terrace restaurant was fine for breakfast and lunch. Chartwell's is a bit dated -- needs to be enlivened and refreshed. Workout facility if fine (machines are around the indoor part of the pool) and well used. There is no spa, however, which is disappointing.
As others have noted, the decor is not top of the line Four Seasons. It's not worn or poorly maintained, but simply a bit old fashioned. Similarly, the lobby design is a bit awkward and confusing. That area could use a major makeover. The stairways to the conference floor obscure the space and cramp the Terrace Restaurant, front desk and dowdy seating area in front of the elevators.
All in all, I liked it more than I expected and would stay again.
Great Stay-Great Location
from A TripAdvisor MemberFrom a seasoned business traveler perspective, the Four Seasons is a very classic hotel with all the full service ammenities.
Pros:
the entire staff from day to night personnel were outstanding
Location and convience - block away from Robson so you are close enough to all the restaurants and shops, but far enough away from all the hustle and bustle.
Room: great bed with high quality linens and nightly turndown service
Pool and Workout area: great indoor/outdoor pool, workout area was good for something quick. This area is staffed and well kepted.
Strengths and weaknesses at the Vancouver Four Seasons
from A TripAdvisor MemberHotel strengths: Great health club/pool/outdoor area with excellent service. Nice view from rooms in SW corner of building. Quick room service. The hotel is well located to shopping and business districts and central to tourist attractions.
Hotel weaknesses: Faded/dated interior/furnishings. Food from Garden Terrace and room service is not as inventive as other Four Seasons properties. Hotel location is distant from cafes/restaurants/shops that cater to residential areas - some of Vancouver's more interesting places to shop and eat are away from this downtown location (this can be a problem if you want a decent bite at night outside the hotel without advance planning). Bathrooms are very small.
Additional experiences: On arrival, there was no porter or door man present to help with luggage. I also had a maintenance problem that was not resolved the first time. Only after the second visit was it resolved properly.

Chocolate Buffet @ Sutton Place Hotel Give this a try. Thu/Fri/Sat night, call for reservations - all the chocolate you can eat!
Wild Whales Vancouver, C Restaurant, Mountaineer Train to Whistler Wild Whales -- Book it and go. We saw the J Pod of Orcas, very moving experience. C-Restaurant - best food, most awesome view over the marina, excellent experience, Mountaineer Train To Whistler - beautiful scenery, nice tea service, free wine!! No driving :-)
Day activity Take the AquaBus from Downtown Vancouver over to Granville Island Market. It's a 5 minute trip and saves you drive time and parking plus you can get a good walk from downtown. It's about a 15 min walk from Robson to the end of Hornby Street where the Aquabus picks you up.
