The staff is fine, the rooms are as clean as they could be, however the place is so old and in need of remodeling that it smells of old building. The pool has not had water in it for what looks like years. The AC is a machine that is there to make lots of noise only.

Bosmans was great value for a hotel with such a good position. The actual hotel itself is very old and the rooms are hallways are surely a flashback to the 60's or 70's. I found the room to be comfortable - although there was no fridge there was free parking and it really was walking distance to everywhere we wanted like Granville St, Davie St, Stanley Park etc. It was very clean and the staff were fine - I was on the 3rd floor and the traffic noise didn't bother me at all. All up a great stay and I would recommend it for any budget traveller!

Top Local Tips for Vancouver

Vancouver's Best On the edge of Vancouver, at Grouse Mountain, try The Observatory. Our #`1. (I had a scallops dish--one of the best meals of my life!). The place also boasts a great view and you can watch deer come nibbling by, below you at dusk. Best view is Cloud Nine (an in-town revolving restaurant), but this operation is in need of a makeover. It's worn, and delivers rather disappointing food (the cheese plate dessert consists of pounds of what seemed to be bulk Wal-mart cheeses, for example). In town, Blue Water--a new trendy place in Yaletown--got our vote as second-best. (The whole sea bass special--terrific!) The other revolving restaurant, Top of Vancouver, is newer and the food is better, but conventional.For breakfast: De Deutsch on Robard (sic?) Street is a winner. Intriguing pancake choices, attentive staff, and outside seating.

Love seafood? If you love seafood try the Sandbar on Granvile Island - reasonably priced and a great setting - get outside on the pation if there's room and the weaher's warm enough
