The Fairmont Airport Vancouver is simply the finest hotel my wife and I have ever stayed in. Sumptious surroundings, pleasant and professional staff, the finest food, and one can lie in bed and watch through sound-proof glass as planes take off and land. Fantastic!

Historical Traveller Reviews of Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel

A great hotel, and convenient!

from travelcritic
What can I say, it's Fairmont and I love them. The rooms are really nice and all include a soaker tub. I would request a gate view so you can see all the planes come in and out. No matter where you stay in this hotel, you will have a view of the runways (try and get a higher floor).
The pool area has a modern jetted pool. I made that name up, however it is one of those pools where you swim in the same spot as you are fighting the jets. Honestly, I would prefer an actual swimming pool, but never the less it is neat. There is a hot tub and spa as well. I find this one of the most reasonably priced Fairmont hotels to stay at. If you have an early flight, you will thank yourselves for checking in here the night before as you couldnt be closer to the terminals. The only downside of this hotel is the parking.. airport parking is pricy!

Loved this hotel

This is a great hotel. We've used it to stay when we had a late Vancouver arrival and also with early morning departures. Hotel is part of the terminal, so it's very convenient. Food is good, both for light snacks in bar area or for full meals. I love sitting in the room watching planes land. However, I didn't notice noise from planes. The rooms are great. Bathrooms are about the nicest I've ever seen. Room layouts are not at all typical for a hotel, it would be hard to explain here, other than to say you have an entrance hall that runs the longer axis of the room and the bathroom is oriented side-by-side with this entrance hall (usually, the bath is oriented at a right angle, most often immediately upon room entry). Two doors going into the bathroom, one at the room entrance and the other on the side with the bed. These are not suites, but certainly have a suite like feel. This is almost a hotel I'd go to, totally dependent of the fact that it's an airport hotel.

Great place to stay

Can't add much to the other reviews regarding this hotel. It's a great place to stay and so very convenient to the airport. The most convenient airport hotel I know of - you just walk downstairs and you're at the international check-in counters. It's a lovely, clean, high end hotel with the best of everything. Restaurant lounge overlooks the runways and is a great place to sit and watch some of the planes taxiing in to their gates. Very much recommends this hotel although it's expensive, but well worth the price for convenience.

s true what they say - It IS very nice

All the comments about the excellent quality are true......but it is the convenience combined with this that really makes it. We took our hire car back the night before, then enjoyed a swim in the pool and a chat with other guests in the hot tub. Later we had a meal in the excellent restaurant and a drink in the equally excellent lounge, with live (grand) piano music. After a very comfortable night's sleep we went down in the elevator directly into the departure lounge and checked our baggage in at 9 o'clock, then went back to our room until eleven! We watched from the large window in our room as our plane arrive from England and taxied to the gate. Then we went down, with just hand luggage, to board the plane at the last minute - no hassle - superb!! What better way to end a two week holiday touring the Rockies?!

Forget all the Airport Hotel Stereotypes!

I have stayed at many world class hotels and I frankly think the four star rating for this one must have been an oversight! The service and amenities were top of the line. The rooms were spotless and well appointed and the staff was very pleasant and polite. Although it is about thirty minutes from the heart of downtown Vancouver, it is a welcome peaceful oasis if you just want to relax and close enough to downtown if you dont. The rooms are actually soundproof! You can see the airplanes land and take off from the hotel room but you cant hear them!
I would like to see this magnificent hotel get the five star rating it deserves.

Very nice

Had a beautiful, spacious room (were told it was an upgrade) with lovely bathroom, nice big bathtub. Definitely 5-star, this is no dinky airport hotel. Staff were cheerful, breakfast buffet had a good, high-quality selection. Highly recommend.

I stayed at the Airport Fairmont, Vancouver in late June on the way back to Barbados after a cruise to Alaska. The room was phenomenal; the service exceptional; the bathtub giantine; the remote controls surprising, even fun; the room was really sound proof since it had a large picture window through which I could see planes take off and land without hearing a sound. The walk to the Air Canada gate was just a few minutes from the hotel. It was wonderful. I must stay there again.

Wonderful: best drinks I have ever tasted

from chris_schene
I fly between Phoenix and Vancouver on a regular basis and love the Fairmont both for Client meetings and staying over the night before my flight. The hotel is right in the terminal so, wake up and walk right over to check in.

They serve the best lemon martini I have ever tasted and all the other drinks I've had are great as well.

The hotel rooms are beautifully appointed with luxurious bathrooms and centralized electronic lighting control. The staff is polite and courteous and they have even remembered my name each time I visit.

Great, Great, Great!!!

Stayed here our last night because of the location....Located right upstairs from the check-in counters.....rooms are very clean, quite, and decorated well....parking could be the only problem if you don't want to pay for valet parking (which is 15 dollars)....other than that everything was fantastic.....

I chose to stay here on my last evening in Vancouver because I had to be at the airport by 4:30 a.m. Having stayed in a Fairmont Hotel before, I knew that it would be a good experience. I was not prepared for how perfect it would be. I didn't want to leave! The room was luscious and was thought out down to the most minute detail. My room was on the 11th floor and had floor to ceiling windows overlooking the mountains. The room was also dead silent -- no noise! How can this be at an airport?? My hotel in the city during the week (31st floor) had more noise (and it was pretty quiet, too). The separate bathtub was so inviting that I actually took a bath -- something I never do -- not even at home! I decided to check out the Spa and ended up having an hour long relaxing body massage. It was the perfect way to end a work week (but then how stressful can work be in Vancouver -- it's so gorgeous). I will definitely stay here again -- even if I don't have an early flight.
This is a first class hotel with a first class staff. Well done, Fairmont!

Top Local Tips for Richmond

Dining with a water view cheap !! If you go to the Richmond airport terminal where the seaplanes take off, there's a great little bar/restaurant that locals hang out at that you can get an awesome salmon burger at and watch the seaplanes take off and land

Convienent For a stopover between flights, this is ideal

Reasonable and convenient valet parking If you are staying at the hotel or plan to be at the YVR airport for an extended period of time, the valet parking in front of the hotel is reasonable ($25) and convenient. I often use it if I am dropping off someone in International Departures since it is right outside the terminal.
