Booked room with 2 queens and queen pull-out sofa- on arrival was told that this accommodation does not exist in their hotel so we would have to take a suite with one king, queen sofa and they would bring in a cot. This cost us another $20.00 for a total of $160. The rack rate for 2 queens was $99.00 a night. We asked for non-smoking but the room had previously been a smoking room and smelled terrible. The room was large but had only one chair. I e-mailed after the weekend to get a $40.00 refund from the reservation service but never heard from them. The buffet prime rib dinner which we booked for 14 people at the hotel was very good and waitress service was excellent.

Staff at this hotel are friendly but the room you stay in could be either respectable or downright dumpy. They didn't process my Triprewards miles even though they accepted my card.

Terrible hotel!! Do not stay here!

It was by far the worst hotel experience that I’ve ever had! I usually stay in cheaper hotels, but this one just takes the cake for being terrible, and it wasn’t even cheap! If the hotel had been half the price of what I paid, then it wouldn't have been so bad. But this hotel is not cheap!

When I arrived at the hotel, there appeared to be homeless people hanging around the entrance. Once I got through them, the lobby itself was fairly nice, and really large. I checked in, and the person behind the desk was fairly friendly. After being handed our keys, we decided to head up to our room to check it out.

This is a HUGE hotel, and there was only ONE elevator for us to take up to our floor. Usually I’d take the stairs up, but with all our luggage and belongings, we needed to take the elevator. Needless to say, we had to stand in a lineup for 20 minutes or so before we were able to get on the elevator. We went up to our room, and were greatly disappointed.

We walked into the room which smelled musty and old, to find that it was freezing cold. I went over to the thermostat, to discover that there was no control over the temperature. This is the beginning of March, it’s -15* outside, and there’s no heat in the rooms! I could not believe it. The room itself was a disgrace – the floor was disgusting looking, the paint was worn away in places and very faded, the tv was quite small, and the room was really small. I refused to take my shoes off for the longest time because the room was so filthy. The paintings on the wall had all been taken down as well, but the sharp hooks remained. I nearly cut myself on those hooks as they should have been taken down with the paintings.

The bathroom was as plain as can be, very old fixtures, a cracked sink, and a small bath tub with a shower in it. I found out the next morning when I went to have a shower just how bad it was. The shower head was about 5 feet high. I’m not a short person, and with the shower head at chest level, it was a pain to take a shower! I had to bend over just to get my hair wet. Then the temperature of the flower fluctuated. It would be fine one moment, and then go burning hot, then freezing cold. How terrible!

After we’d been in the hotel room for about an hour or so, there was a knock at the door saying it was ‘Maintenance.’ I let them in, not knowing what to expect. They said that I had just called the front desk complaining that the sink was plugged and overflowing. I told them that I hadn’t called, and the sink was working just fine. They then tried to argue with me that I had called. They said that they still must take a look at it. So they took all of 30 seconds to discover that the sink worked, but never took the time to see if it was plugged if they filled the sink up to the brim, and then let it drain. They were just about to leave when I asked them if there was a way to turn the heat up as it was so cold. They just said “NO!”

After that, I walked across the hall to the drink vending machine to get a Coke. I put my money in the machine, and it would not accept it. I tried again, and again it would not take my money. I looked around, and found a small sticker about 2 feet off the ground saying that you have to buy tokens at the front desk to be able to using the vending machine! Who buys tokens for a vending machine? That’s ridiculous! It’s not like an arcade game!!! So I never bought my drink from there!

I then had a look over the Room Service menu, to see if there was anything good on there. All I can say is expensive, expensive, expensive! The restaurants in the hotel didn’t look very good either, and we’re also very pricey!

After all that, I later went to bed. The sheets and blankets were very thin, old, and not too clean looking. The bed itself was terribly hard and uncomfortable. The pillows were small and well used. I had a horrible sleep that night, and woke up being less rested that I was before I went to bed.

What a terrible experience at this hotel! Do not stay there!!!!!!!

t Return For Business

I stayed in this hotel on business with a number of colleagues and each of us had a below average experience. I was put into a smoking room despite specifically requesting a non-smoking room at booking. I was moved to a non-smoking room after the first night, but all my clothes managed to absorb the stale cigarette smell in the mean time. The rooms were relatively clean and the beds were decent, but this hotel is quite old and tired. Due to the age of the carpets in the rooms, I was reluctanct to walk barefoot from the bed to the bathroom. The hotel staff were reasonably helpful.

If you're used to staying in above average hotels on business, this place will likely be a disappointment. If you're trying to travel on a budget, this may be a decent choice, but there are other, newer hotels that are in the same price range.

So what is all the complaining for...?

Admittedly, this hotel was not our first choice as we were going through Edmonton on our way to Calgary, and preferred to stay in the suburbs. But it turned out a family member was staying here at the same time, so we changed our plans. I'd seen some of the reviews and was prepared for the worst - but was pleasantly surprised, having last stayed here in the mid-1990's when it really was in need of an overhaul. Yes, it could stand a coat of paint here and there, but the rooms were clean, quiet, the plumbing worked, lots of free parking, and our children loved it (especially the fountain in the lobby). For those who travel on a budget as we do, this is just fine.

Reservations: Our reservation # was not in the system... like many in our party. They knew our names! our address!BUT NOT OUR RESERVATIONS..... Because of their overbooking... several groups from the wedding had to seek accommodation at other hotels (at least 4 from our side of the family)...No airport shuttle on weekends!!!! We did receive a modest monetary compensation. Very expensive smorg ($18.00) for italian!!!!menu prices more reasonable. Only some rooms have fridges. Chairs limited even in suites. Recommendation.... do not use this hotel for group (wedding) accommodatiions!...... arrive early in the day in order to insist on your reservation.

We booked two rooms with two double beds each! When we arrived, we were told that both rooms that were reserved were with single beds. Thinking that this might be a coincidence, they were able to "find" two rooms with dbl beds, though they were completely booked. Four other groups of families arrived only to find that their reservations were not accurate as well, and two groups had to find alternate accomodations in another hotel, on their own. This all happened, despite the fact that we all had confirmation numbers, and I actually had phoned twice to confirm the details of our booking, including the fact that we needed a crib, which we did not receive. The people at the desk were extremely rude and condescending. We received no compensation, and we were told that they typically overbook and hey, we got a room in the end. Recommendation: If you are thinking of having family groups stay here for weddings or other events, think again. They booked us, wrong, all over the hotel (not even near each other-- even though the groom's father booked a section for us.) The rooms were adequate, but the flooring was disgusting. I have an infant and I could not even begin to imagine letting him play on the floor. Be warned. The buffet in the restaurant is very expensive for what you get, especially Friday's Italian night and breakfast ($10.75 for french toast, sausage/bacon eggs and bagels and toast).

This hotel holds a record for the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I will never ever go back. Bed had stain on the blanket, box spring was horibly stained with something brown, heater didn't work and the service is just barely below average. I didn't feel comfortable walking on the floor with my bare feet. The customer service agent informed us that the rooms were newly remodled. The were newly remodled with furniture from the 70's. Every thing was old. Definetly not recommended.

The Hotel Has Very Nice Decor But You Can Tell It Is Old And Well Used.

There Is Nothing For Children So I Would Suggest It More For Adults Because Of The Bars And Nightclubs.

The Rooms Are Very Well Decorated And They Are Clean But There Are Some Problems Such As, The Bedding Has Cigarette Burns In It And The T.V Is Very, Very Small.

We Were Going The The Glenrose Hospital So They Have A Deal For People Going There Which Was $60.00 Dollars Canadian Per Night.

Overall You Get What You Paid For Good Sleep For A Great Price Would I Recomened It, Yes And No So You Will Have To Look At The Review And Decide For Your Self

Just returned from a weekend in Edmonton .. stayed at the Ramada /Edmonton Inn ..... a super reception, received complimentary breakfast vouchers...... breakfast was delicious .. service very courteous... this was a great way to start my morning .. and my day ! the room was very clean, altho' have to admit the linen on the bed had like a stale odour.... but clean, maybe not having been used for a while .. am not sure . The housekeeping ladies were also very polite and had my room cleaned up by the time I returned from my breakfast . I also tried their room service ...... delicious ... hot and fast service. They have a great bunch of people working there .
Upon check-out .. again cheery people to deal with ... would stay again ... as I enjoyed the stay , the shopping .. etc ....

In need of renovation! Tired looking and worn.

Not very impressed with the quality of the rooms at the Edmonton Inn. The value for money was not good. The hotel has three towers: 2 being for the Edmonton Inn and the third for Ramada. They share reception, lobby, and restaurants. It costs more to stay in the Ramada tower than in the Edmonton Inn towers.

We booked an internet rate at the Edmonton Inn and needless to stay we were disappointed. The hotel is in desparate need of renovation. Although freshly painted, there is much more that needs to be done. The lounge seats, carpets, and the disorganized looking jungle of plants (some dead)needed some desparate attention (just to name a few).

The old elevators smelled so rotten and disguisting we didn't even want to put our suitcases on the grungy looking carpet. We opened the door to our room with further disappointment. The furtniture was a hodge podge of stuff pieced together. I could write my name in the dust on the top of the TV. The carpet rivalled that of old highway motels. There was an open electrical outlet with a wire hanging out near the TV. The air conditioner didn't vent to the outside and groaned trying to spit out the little bit of somewhat cool reused air. The bathrrom door didn't close unless you threw your body into the action. The linoleum was stained, yellowed, and peeling up close to the tub. There was no fan in the washrooms, just a fuzzy air intake grate on the cieling. The towels were a mixture of nice, new, soft, white towels and old, stained, ivory coloured ones.

The bed was fairly comfortable but sloped toward the center. There were no extra blankets. On a good note, the pillows rivalled those of 4 and 5 star hotels. The sheets were clean but the bed spread was probably ten years old. The mattress sheets were too small to cover the mattress in its entirety.

There were no accessories in the room such as coffe machine, refrigerator, extra pillows and blankets.

We stood in line for 20 minutes to check-out and get a receipt. All in all, the hotel was a disappointment especially since it affiliates itself with the Ramada name. I must say however, that we found the rooms and hotel floor very quiet. We do believe, however, that nobody else was staying on our floor. In conclusion, we could have bought a much better hotel room for the money we spent.

Fun info on the RAMADA CONFERENCE CENTRE This hotel is great because it is a short drive to downtown Edmonton. A nice shopping centre near by hotel - walking distance. Alot of meeting space and rooms... great for business meetings. I held a small meeting while I was there and all their team was very helpful and made it a success!
