This is our 3rd visit over 6 years and we stay because it is a good centre for visiting the surrounding area and the cost reasonable. What we pay we feel is more than enough (usually booked well in advance), as the cabins are dark and lacking in any sound proofing, so being woken up during the night and early in the morning by your neighbours is not something to look forward to. 2 nights would be more than enough for anyone! Nothing has changed in the 6 years we've stayed. The lighting needs updating - no central overhead light so trying to find anything by the trio of side lights leaves much to be desired. Surely we aren't the only ones to find this infuriating! Nonetheless, our cabin has always been clean, had a comfortable bed and the staff friendly. No doubt will stay again but wouldn't want to pay the current advertised prices.
Friendly, Fabulous and FANTASTIC

The location of Roundle Mountain Lodge was exactly what i was looking for. The cost was definýtely reasonable, the room size and cleanliness was of a high standard and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They did not hesitate to send me in the right direction for what i wanted. I would recommend this Lodge to whoever is passing through the rocky mountains and wants the best experience for the right price.
Dirty, abysmal housekeeping

We stayed in one of the small cabins. The floor was dirty. My wife found sunflower shells and bobby pins on the floor in the bedroom. She spoke to the person at the front desk about it and was assured that the floors would be vacuumed while we were gone for the day. They didn't touch the room, except to make the beds. Bathroom was filthy. The windows were grimy and dirty. The exterior actually looks fairly attractive, but the cabin was dark and dingy. In short, this lodging is an over-priced facility that really sucks. I wish I had read the earlier review before we made travel plans. We never would have stayed at this dump.
Grumpy Staff

If you're like me you don't have super high expectations of a hotel. Clean and cheap are the most important and anything else is a bonus.
The Rundle Mountain Lodge was cheap but lacked anything else. The rooms were old which is fine, but they were also not very clean. One of us actually had blood on the comforter right at the face (no not a stain that lated through a wash... actual blood). The location of this blood would be difficult for staff to miss when making the bed. When we presented this situation at the front desk, their response was sort of "so what". Only after raising a bit of a stink, did the staff agree to give us one night free. Before all this took place, I went down to the lobby to request the pricing for their fireside room, which is a small meeting room with a wood burning stove. I thought it would be perfect for playing some board games with my friends. Their first response was to tell me that we "could" get loud. I then restated that we were only planning on using it to play some board games and further to that it would have been during the day. I don't know of too many Scrabble games that get really loud, but even still it was during the day. It's one thing to let someone know about the noise policy and then it's another to basically assume that we will be loud. I have to assume that board games would be one of the more quiet events people want to use the room for. To make a long story short, the staff was rude, unapproachable and unhelpful. At the end of the weekend I met the assistant manager who at first seemed like a nice lady (finally). I indicated that we were not happy with the service we got and that we would probably not stay there again. Her response was to basically in a nice way tell me I was wrong by quoting that 60% of their guest return. I don't know if that's true or if that's a good number, but I do know a thing or two about customer service and I know that you don't tell the person that their opinions are not valid because other people don't complain. If it's the case that something went wrong for us and our experience was truly an anomaly, then you would think that they would be surprised by my remarks and want to know what specifically I was unhappy with. If you are looking for a dream vacation this is not the place to stay, if you are looking for cheap and clean, find some place else. These people do not deserve to get any business even if you are not interested in paying much for accomodations. I don't expect much, but I do expect to be treated with respect and if I'm going to pay for something, I would like at the very least, to have friendly staff to deal with. Save yourself the pain of dealing with crabby staff and pay the couple extra bucks for a nice holiday. You'll be happy you did!
