Top Local Tips for Canmore

Accomodation in the towns of the Canadian Rockies and ones that are not Make sure when you visit the Rockies in Canada you are staying where you want to . There are many places to stay in towns but there are a few gems just outside the towns of canmore, banff, lake louise and jasper. In the high season the towns are filled with people. Have a look at accomodation just outside the town sites for great places to stay, often with great food, close proximity to wildlife and less people.

Canadian Rockies picking a ski resort in the Canadian Rockies can be difficult as there are so many great options. We were trying to find a ski resort that was more adventure oriented, but still had some shopping, some history/heritage and had incredible terrain and snow. So just a few things...So we consulted regional tourism boards, websites of various ski resorts in the region and called some local ski shops to get their insight. What we found is the resorts of Fernie Alpine Resort, Fernie, British Columbia, Red Mountain, Rossland, British Columbia had the heritage and historic town. Both also had real ski towns and cool shops. Snow leader is Fernie Alpine Resort, then Red Mountain and then Kicking Horse/Sunshine/Banff. Incredible terrain- Fernie, Red, and Sunshine. Shopping (now we are not glitzy but like to buy local and unique) Fernie and Red were the winners here! So adding the adventure- dog-sledding, snowshoeing, cat-skiing, cross country skiing etc..and we picked Fernie Alpine Resort
