Best Hotel in Area

After a terrible experience at the Delta Bow Valley (see review for the Delta Hotel 6/22/06), I checked out a day early and headed over to the Hyatt. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I don't understand why the Hyatt is rated #13 on Trip Advisor. From the moment we pulled into the driveway, we were greeted at the front door. The rooms were clean and the building well maintained. The Hyatt is a newer hotel in a very good location. It is only 3 blocks from China town where we had a great dinner at the Silver Dragon. There is also a lot of shopping available on Stephen street. The two restaurants in the downstairs lobby have received rave reviews.
We also stayed at the #1 rated Hotel on Trip Advisor, Sheraton Suites Eau Claire and the Hyatt it is at least on Par with that one. Yet the Delta Bow is rated #3 on Trip Advisor and the Hyatt is rated #13. It must be some kind of typo.
Take my word for it, check out lucky #13, the Hyatt. You won't be disappointed. The Delta Bow and the Hyatt are about the same money but they are worlds apart.

Great location, best of old and new

from tvchip
Very impressed with this Hyatt. It's a relatively new property (circa 2000?) built on the base of a historic building. It's right on Centre St downtown, next to the popular Stephen Avenue Walk - great location - and next to the Tower too.

Our family of 4 fit fine in a double-double, which was nicely appointed and furnished.

We found a weekend AAA rate of $120 plus tax and parking. The rate included buffet breakfast for two. Well worth for the visit.

d stay again

from lttt
went there for the first time in april. there is nothing unique or special about this hotel. but, it had clean rooms that were a decent size, well stocked mini bar. the thing that stood out for me was the staff. with the exception of one small incident, all the staff were so helpful and very watchful in the lobby for people who may need assistance. i had room service twice and was pleased with their service and food. i had read that the pool area was "reaaly great" and was disappointed with this. it's fine but it's a pretty small pooland when you look outisde, you are staring into the cement of the calgary tower. as i said, i'd stay there again if the price was right.

nice hotel and restaurant

i stayed at the hyatt on a business trip and had a very nice stay. rooms were nice and clean. concierge was great with restaurant/shopping recommendations. generally service was quite good. my favourite part of the hotel was the restaurant downstairs. the food was good and it's a nice cozy place to have a drink or meal after a long day. the location is very convenient. it's close to shopping and restaurants. my only negative was that i ordered breakfast in my room and the eggs benedict wasn't that great and the side vegetables were far too salty. somewhat surprised as i've had meals in the restaurant downstairs and the food was great. maybe they were off that morning. also it was annoying that i couldn't leave my food tray outside my door as i actually had to call them to pick it up. otherwise those are small things and i certainly would stay there again.

Take me to the Hyatt!

Stay here, and you'll get exactly what the Hyatt name usually promises, an elegant, proper, upscale hotel. Great service, a fantastic pool and whirlpool on the 18th floor, comfortable rooms with pillow top matresses, granite baths and fully stocked mini-bars. The place is 6 years old and still sparkles like opening day. Perfect. Make sure to appreciate the hotel's fantastic 6-storey lobby, which is carved-out of an historic structure. Take me to the Hyatt...

This hotel is sooooo generic. It has very little personailty. The rooms (even on the Club floor) are just like any big chain hotel room in any city. Completely uninspired and uninteresting.

There's nothing really wrong with it, but there's nothing that makes it special or makes you want to come back. For a hotel with these rates, you can't help but feel like you're just staying at a Holiday Inn and overpaying.

It does have a GREAT spa though. Definitely worth checking out. But I would recommend staying at the Palliser across the street (same price) and visiting the spa for the day.

Great Service

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency for 7 nights. We drove into the parking garage where they issues us a 5 day parking pass which seemed strange as we were staying for 7 nights. In any event, it went very smoothly. The gave us a room on the 16th floor with a great view of the city. The room itself was nothing special. The great thing about the HYatt was their friendly service. We had visitors at night and they let them park in their entrance for free. They just had to leave the keys with them. The conceirge was very helpful and friendly as was everybody else.

We had the buffet breakfast included with our room rate. It was nothing great but was OK. Pretty limited selection. Very expensive at $16 if we had to pay for it. We had the greatest waitress. Her name is Jennifer and she is one of the best that we have ever had. Very friendly, quick and very accomodating.

We were shocked by the number of homeless and beggars downtown. They are all around the hotel.

great hotel

This is a high end excellent hotel in a good downtown location. The rooms are immaculate, the service superb. There is a lovely pool and jacuzzi as well as a spa. We called the last minute and were given a good rate that included breakfast during the Calgary Stampede. The front desk was very helpful with dining suggestions as well as directions around town. Parking is $16 a day. The decor is beautiful as well. Do not hesitate to stay here if you get a good rate.

Excellent Hotel!

Stay here. If it's full then stay at the Sheraton EauClair. The Hyatt is expensive but worth the money. Everything is great - the rooms, the meeting facilities and facility staff (awesome - should get a pay raise), the pool and workout room, the restaurant (excellent breakfasts), even the parking garage!. Like I said, it's worth the extra cash and the only place that comes close is the Sheraton EauClair. You won't be disappointed

Great Hotel

I stayed at this hotel in June 2005 for two nights and have no complaints the sevice is quite amazing reception calling me thity minutes after room service to ask if everything was good!!! you don't get that in London. The beds are so comfy we had a king and you get the feel the hotel is not just clean but well looked after, the room service is very cheap as is food in Canada generally. The pool is very modern with great views over the city and the gym is great, The best for me were the views over the city form our room we were on the 17th and had great veiws. The staff are very helpful and even sent us our phone and camera charger free of charge to Lake Louise where we were staying as we had left them behind. If you want a clean modern hotel with a central location and friendly staff pick this one.
