Will The Construction Ever Be Finished?
from A TripAdvisor MemberYou are welcome to stay here if you don't mind paying top dollar and getting a room on a floor that is still under construction. By the way floors 11,12 & 21 are also still unfinished. Those floors don't even have carpet outside the elevator. It seems as though the guest should be informed in advance that the hotel is under construction and largely unfinished. Living in construction debris is not my idea of a good time. Check out the photos I've taken.
Great Service Great Foot
from graceinhimThe staff that I did have a chance to intereact with were top notch and went out of their way to help you, whether it be something for the wedding or as guests staying over night. nothing but good to say. Our planner was OK "pam" we had to get on her case a couple of times but once we did all was good. and the day of the wedding managers were awesome went out of their way to make our wedding a complete success. We had planned to have it on the beautiful garden patio, but when we were about to start it started raining, they had us in another room and ready to go in 10mins. All in all a great day, and a great experience.
A visit spoilt
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe were perfectly satisfied for the first few days. The room was on the 15th floor with a good view of the river. It was very clean with very comfortable beds. The breakfast dining room was run very smoothly by a small army of excellent ladies and the food was varied and tasty.
Suddenly, however, early one morning there was a noise in the corridor outside our room and we found workmen stripping wallpaper, skirting and light fittings!!
We complained to Reception staff and were told basically that it was too bad as the hotel was being refurbished. We were begrudingly offered another room but did not see why we should have to bear further inconvenience and timewasting moving all our possessions as it was after all our holiday time. Reception said they would make a note of our complaint but no action was taken. No apology was or has been received by us to this day.
We spent the remainder of our stay returning to our room each time amid plastered walls, wet paint signs, bare light fittings and splattered carpeting (we have photos!!).
This work was obviously planned and we are still annoyed and shocked that we were given the room on that floor from the beginning as the staff must have known. Also no note was given on the Delta Reservation website when booking to say that refurbishment is taking place.
So stay at this hotel if you must but be warned......they pretend to care but dont.
A great hotel!
from mayagallerOriginally we're booked for 9 but had to change it due to unforseen commitments. There were no problems with that at all, the hotel's reservation department was very helpful.
Upon arrival at Delta we got our room immediately. All the requests we put on file were fulfilled: we got a cot and the requested riverview room on a high floor.
The room was modern, convenient, and clean, and so was the washroom.
The food was great as well. The buffet breakfasts were delicious and reasonably priced. The Elements restaurant and longue were great as well.
Note: the hotel is currently undergoing some renovations (selected floors) but it's not distractive or anything.
Paid through the nose!

from bridgemagoo2Magnificent hotel at magnificent price!!
from playitcoolThe hotel is very clean and tidy and the room we stayed in was quite modern and spacious. The breakfasts, which we paid extra for, were very good with a large choice and the wait staff were friendly and provided keen service. The pool and hot spa are included in the price and are worth a visit.
The hotel is situated only a 5-10 minute walk from the main hustle and bustle of Calgary, so it cannot be faulted for location either.
If you ever visit Calgary for a weekend I would recommend this hotel unconditionally.
Very Nice
from work2travelEnjoyed a nice walk to the Eau Claire Market & then did the Barclay stroll down to Td Square, Eaton's Centre, & Banker's Hall. You can do some serious shopping damage here!
Room service was delicious, with the service being fast & friendly.
Great variety of in-room entertainment, taken advantage of during a rainy night. Pool/jacuzzi area is very nice- only wish I was able to take advantage of the lovely patio/sun deck.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay at a superb downtown hotel.
Excellent city hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberTop Local Tips for Calgary
Walking & Driving around in downtown Calgary Easy to drive around, not too crowded. However, the City has a lot of developments and constructions in town. Very common to close a whole block for a year I heard. Lots of 1-way streets but it's actually safer that way. You'll know when you see it. :) We were also told that it is absolutely safe to walk around even after dark (th2 sun sets at 10 pm at this time of year) but there is a drop-in center (homeless shelter) a few blocks to the easide of the hotel - we were warned to stay away from the eastside as a result.
Stampede buy a cowboy hat or you'll feel out of place. Good choice of hats and boots at Riley & McCormick. We stayed for three nights and that was just right. Went to the Stampede and the Tower.
Zoo & Silver Dragon Silver Dragon,Very good Chinese, only a few blocks away.Calgary Zoo was awesome
