We are Hindustani people living in Holland from Suriname. We were tired when we arrived from Edmonton on our way to Banff on aug. 6th 2005 in the evening. We were not received very well but as we were tired we take the lodge. My wife went downstairs to take something from the car and saw a lady with a van hit our rental car. My wife spoke to the lady to fill an incident report. My wife went together with the lady to the reception to ask a pencil which was refused by the white lady (reception) of the evening shift.
My wife tried to call me in the room from the lobby and the telephone was not working. My wife asked the reception to call me from her telephone but she refused to do so. My wife went upstairs to call me to help her with this incident and when we arrived downstairs in the lobby the white couple was gone. We spoke to the receptionist
of her behaviour and she said if we continue like this she will remove us from the hotel. We told her that we want to call the police and she said you have to do it from the room. I told her the telephone was not working. She said it will work go to your room. And the telephone was working. I went outside to call the police because i didnt trust her anymnore. We make a police report of this case. I dont know what to think about all what happened, but my feeling is that racism was playing a big role in this case by this lady from the hotel reception the way she acts to us. By this i want to warn all Indians (India) or black people for this lodge and to take care.
