day trip to calgary if you fancy a day trip to calgary shopping etc then don't try to be independant and go by the greyhound, like i did!!! find an excursion that will take you to shopping centers and the other sights.. the greyhound journey is long, uncomfortable, unreliable timewise, grubby, uncomfortable, inconvieiant timetable for day returns, etc etc... in a word bad!!

Sights in Banff Get out and walk around.....breathe the air!!! Go up to the glacier and take the snotractor trip. See a glacier before they disappear. Hike up to the top of Johnson Creek then have lunch at the restaurant. Maybe make friends on the hike and ask them to join you for lunch. A superior experience. Banff in the fall is wonderful. The leaves are changing and the air is spectacular. Don't forget Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. Go for a canoe on Moraine. See the water as you glide over it. The colors continue to amaze and it's clear to the bottom in most areas. Paddle up to the spillway/falls and see it from the best vantage point.

Local restaurants Be sure you eat at the Silver Dragon and order Fried Gingered Beef. It's excellent. In fact, I liked all their food. Also, try the Old Spaghetti Factory in the mall. It's really good, too.
