Vacation next to construction site
from Jza63Spot on
from RPatUnfortunately there is masses of building work going on everywhere in this area, and you do feel in the middle of a building site when driving up. My initial room was directly looking over a new tower block. I am a heavy sleeper, so it didn't worry me too much, however when my mate arrived to stay with me for a few nights, after his second night he couldn't bear the noise any more. Apparently the cement mixer went off every hour through the night - all night!! We complained the next morning and were upgraded to an apartment on the 43rd floor - WOW! The apartment is the same identically as the first one, but you can see out for miles, it is much brighter and there is no noise whatsoever. First class.
Not used the pool here, as I prefer the beach for the tan potential!! But the pool over at the Oasis Beach Hotel is excellent, and the gardens and private beach immaculately maintained.
Staff are friendly and helpful in both the hotel and the apartments.
Had room service a couple of nights - nice, reasonably priced food, but been out most nights. Not eaten in the Oasis Beach as I'm not a buffet person, and the Singaporean was full the night we tried so we went elsewhere. We did snack one night in "The Worst Hotel Bar in the World - Charlie Parrots" - my god that place is awful - no atmosphere, pitch black, the DJ turns the music down so he can talk to his mates on his phone - mind you when he's playing "Grease Lightning, Chain Reaction, and Come on Eileen" he can turn it off and pack it away for all I care!! Anyway, this alone is my one grumble - overpriced drinks in a terrible bar - mind you the drinks are on the high side everywhere you go due to it being hotel only drink laws.
All in all, excellent, on the pricey side, but great all the same.
Service with a smile
from DantheaWe booked a two room premium apartment, but were upgraded to a 240m2 three room (unnecessarily, but better view).
The apartments as described previously are extremely well kitted out, including full laundry facilities and a very nice package of food and soft drinks to welcome you.
The facilities and restaurants are excellent and the staff throughout the complex live up to the hotel's aim to be the friendliest hotel in Dubai.
The Premium lounge on the 33rd floor was a lovely place to stop for a small snack, lunch, afternoon tea or even just a coffee. Everything done quickly and pleasantly, all on Villeroy and Boch!
We had a few minor problems with the apartment, which were sorted out almost as soon as I mentioned them (bulb gone, water not hot enough in one of the bathrooms, stereo playing up), but I can't fault the apartments for their quality and even interior design. The bedding was simple high quality Egyptian Cotton and oh so comfortable.
The construction was not an issue and in fact quite fascinating - very little noise pollution during our stay.
The location is about 10miles out of town, but there is lots to do before you get to town and the taxis are incredibly good value.
We had an excellent stay and if you're looking at this review I'd recommend you book the towers - there's too much choice in Dubai, but space and a smile make it a recommend for me.
Luxurious and we were spoiled
from foxypThe apartments themselves were stunning, spacious and luxurious with lots of goodies in the welcome food pack. After a week, we still had not used all the contents. The views from the apartment were breath-taking, especially as the balcony barrier only came to waist-height - seriously not recommended if you have children.
Also included with the accommodation came complimentary breakfasts, which we took over in the Oasis Beach Hotel restaurant; mid-day snacks; afternoon tea; evening nibbles all taken in the Premier Lounge. The only meals we purchased were in the evening and mainly used the hotel's restaurant. Singapura was lovely.
The staff greeted you with a warm smile whatever time of day or night and couldn't do enough for you. We made good use of the hotel's free shuttle to Dubai most days but on one occasion decided to take a taxi and ended stuck in traffic for over 3 hours, but it was at 5pm. It was a nightmare. Take a tip and use the free shuttle buses. They leave at various times including 3pm which misses out all the traffic and catches the shops opening for the evening.
We had the most fantastic time and hope to return to Dubai in a few years and will undoubtedly stay again at the Oasis Beach Tower. I can't recommend it strongly enough.
Excellent and lovely hotel

We have just returned from a week at the OasisBeachTower Apartments. The hotel is magnificent and the staff is incredible kind and helpful. The interior is so beautiful, lovely colours and extremely comfortable beds and bedclothes. Everything is so well thought. Pool, beach and lawn area are very well kept and there are plenty of sunchairs. You can even sit in the water on a special chair and let the waves wash over you. There are several very good restaurants, we think the best is the one at the beach.
We will be back!
Huge apartments
from nick_the_travellerWonderful apartments
from essexbearSuperb apartments
from VerdiPWe were on half board, breakfast and lunch or dinner. There are very few restrictions, maybe 1 dish in each restaurant where the voucher only covers half. The food was superb in all of the places - The Bazaar for breakfast and theme nights, The Singapura for oriental and The Oregano for Mediterranean and the Oasis Beach Bar for snacks etc. The house wine is drinkable, but there's others to choose from.
The hotel is a little far out and everyone talks about Dubai being a building site, but believe me, this is in the thick of it. The main hotel and the 2 towers (only one is owned by the hotel) are the only things that seem to be complete in the area. However, having said that, it didn't disturb us too much as we were on the 31st floor and. It's fascinating watching them build, but they do work 24-7.
We've stayed at the Jumeriah Beach Hotel previously and this is comparible, but different. It's less formal and the staff seem very happy to work there. The beach is much nicer than the one at the Jumeriah Beach Hotel. This one is natural, however, the Palm does have an effect on the tides occasionally.
The main hotel is nice, but a little tired. I would always go for the towerI think as someone else said, once everywhere is complete, the prices will be much higher, so get out there now!
Stunning apartments and service
from scoops7Staff were pleasant at all times and the service was second to none.
Dubia is a building site at the moment and will be even more stunning when finished, dont let this put you off as at no time did this work have an adverse affect on our stay.
.
Beautiful set up at a great introductory price
from HolidaydelightWe visitied in August which is off peak and too hot for some, with daytime temp over 45 C. However, this means flight deals are available (we flew BA for well under £300 each) and other incentives are offered.
Quality of accommodation was excellent, extremely spacious and good fit out, smart bathrooms and kitchen, huge living room, LCD TV screens in living room and master bedroom, with DVD player in living room. It gets dark before 7pm in August, so we were glad we had taken a supply of DVD films and enjoyed spending time in our luxurious living room together.
The tower is effectively an extension of the ajoining 4* hotel which offers restaurants, a few shops, beach club, large swim-up pool, small gym and huge beach garden with private beach. Very pleasant facilities, wide mix of nationalities, fairly quiet and relaxed. The buffet restaurant has excellent them nights and we can also recommend the Oregano for mediterranean styles. Left it too late to get a reservation in the other Singaporean restaurant, but heard good things about it too,
I agree that a business traveller may see a few drawbacks - most notably very poor internet service (broadband is included free fo charge, but we were told that infrstructure in the area was overwhelmed with most guest bringing laptops). I had to walk to the Hilton (only 300M away) to check in online for our return flight.
The building work is all around as the Marina development goes up, but we specifically requested a high floor and had no disturbance whatever - I think we were above the noise. We paid a bit extra for the middle grade of room (standard/superior/de luxe) see Oasis Beach Tower's own web site for differences in spec, and check what grade you are getting if booking through an agent. Washing machine/tumble dryer was provided, also dish washer.
It took us a couple of days to find a routine - the pool behind the tower is excellent (also a child's pool) expecially in the early morning when the sun catches it nicely. The hotel pool is great all day, but we especially liked moving down to the beach at sunset. Camel rides offered on the beach were a big hit with my daughters. Also the hotel gym was pleasant, well air conditioned, a reasonable mix of equipment.
There's lots of information elsewhere about trips out, but we found the taxis cheap enough not to bother with the free shuttle buses after the first time. Our favourite outing was a water taxi up and down the creek.
Generally a wonderful holiday, staff were all friendly and professional, we all want to go back one day.
Top Local Tips for Dubai
Excellent public transport system From the taxi to the hotel to catching a boat across the harbour Dubai's public transport system is great. If you catch a boat from one side of the ferry to another - offer coins - do not get tricked into giving notes. The trip should only cost equivalent of 50 US cents. Taxi's are metered and very reasonable. However if you catch a cab from the city to the 7 star hotel expect to pay lots as you will get stuck in the most horrendous traffic - appears to have only one road in and one road out of the city and the 14 kilometre trip can take 45 minutes at least in peak hours. Hence you end up paying a good sum. Buses are cheap but not frequent.
Buses Catch a bus....the time table and map looks complicated, but they pretty much drive in a circle, so even if you miss your stop, or it's the wrong bus, you will always end up where you started anyway. It only costs a few Dirhum, and its loads of fun, especailly for us that are not used to buses. Or you can catch a BIG BUS. A double decker tour bus. Your ticket is valid for 24 hours and takes you around the most important sights in Dubai. NOTE: They include free vouchers for museums and for a boat ride along the creek - these don't have to be used in the same 24hours that your bus ticket is valid.
