Found this to be a great stopover on way back from Australia. Staff were brilliant,Fox and Hounds was great , with good English food. Hoping to stay again next year.

Top Local Tips for Dubai

Summer,desert 48deg C. Superhot even late at night! The gold souk is not all airconditioned.The shopping mall that is new is amazing- has all sorts of displays and decor from various countries- well worth a visit to see money well spent. An actual size elephant model, Chinese junk as well as the history of Mathematics and astronomy made it a terrific experience out of the heat.If going on desert safari wear solid shoes- the sand is really hot if you need to take photos and thongs are inadequate. Take travel sickness pills too as the slewing 4WD up and down the dunes is a challenge for susceptible people. Overall a good experience but the drivers are not good tourist guides- limited information knowledge as all are expat workers.Would not bother again but glad to do it once-dunes are spectacular as the sun sets.

Relax If you are going to Dubai and are thinking of staying at this hotel, please be aware that there is not much going on outside of the hotel. There are plenty of restaurants around and local shops but if you want to go propper shopping you will have to get a taxi into the centre. There are no bars around at all, so a quiet drink with friends/family is out of the question unless you are planning to have a meal then you will find some nice restaurants. This is the perfect hotel if you just want to chill out and relax. We diddn't see any children at this hotel and I don't think it is a place for them, it's more of an adult hotel in my opinion as they wouldn't appreciate any messing around in the pool etc...

Stop over on the way back from Oz Don't go out walking in Dubai during the day, very hot and intimidating
