Top Local Tips for Riyadh

Riyadh taxis -- safe and cost-effective I found liveried taxis in Riyadh to be the best way to get around. There are plenty on the street in the areas where business travelers tend to be, and the drivers I had were unfailingly courteous and far less crazy behind the wheel than the typical Riyadh motorist. They knew the city geography and kept their cabs clean and in good condition. Most are multilingual at least enough to get me where I'm going when I spoke to them in English, and once resourceful guy who had no English phoned a friend to translate for us. Taxis clearly display the phone number of the taxi service and the driver's license number, along with the fare tarrif which is $5 for flagfall and SAR 1.60 per km plus SAR 0.70 per minute of wait time.
