Ramadan and Dress Code I would strongly advise against travelling to Oman in Ramadan due to the restrictions on eating and drinking. Also if you travel remember to take clothes that will cover your arms and legs. In more rural areas of Oman and also for the temple visit you will not be accepted if your legs or arms are showing (mainly for women)

Haggle Check out taxi fares with others. I was quoted anything up to OR 20 for a trip to Muttrah souk. OR 4 was a reasonable rate.

Patience needed - Hiring a car at Seeb Airport Seeb airport can become congested in the evenings with many flights arriving and departing. It took nearly an hour and a half to get our pre-booked hire car (Thrifty rentals booked through Holiday Autos). The car was fine, but the booking in process and dropping off the car was a frustrating experience.Next time I would taxi to the hotel each way and hire a car at the hotel. Always pre-negotiate the cost of a taxi and ensure that the driver knows the location as many don't understand, but always say they do so that they don't lose face with the customer!
