If it's too hot, take a cab, but with evening traffic, walking may be quicker. 18K jewelry adjusts to the price of gold, but as of September 2007 was about 21 USD/gram for tourists. I'm sure Kuwaits can shave a bit off of that. The 21/22K jewelry usually looks brassy to Westerners. There are about 15 stalls or shops in a row and all sell similar items so bargain. With most proprietors, they started in the 24-28 USD range, and I haggled to get the price down. There are also some shops selling women's apparel nearby if you want to pick up some silk scarves.
