Spending various nights in different hotels including the Sheraton, I found the service to be unexceptable overall in Israel. The Renaissance was no different with a major communication problem on behalf of their staff. Booked in to a club room with the extra ameneties and had my reservation confirmed. Upon arrival, many of the additional items they said came standard with the room didn't anymore. They blamed both myself and my girlfriend for hearing wrongly when we specifically made the reservation face to face. They confirmed my booking with a Switch card but was unable to take this because 'Israel has never heard of this type card', even though I must stress is International and had reservations made within other hotels. Money had to be paid up front and they cheekily wanted a further few hundred shekkels (£50 approx) in the event of me using the telephone or mini bar. The room we were given was wrong (a single rather than a double), and the male staff I must stress are the rudest I have ever experienced in a hotel of this rating. I strongly advise anyone who is after a high calibre service especially paying $450 dollars for 2 nights to consider elsewhere.

Top Local Tips for Tel Aviv

The historic sites! I went to all kinds of historical sites like Jerusalem, Haifa, Nazareth, Sea of Galilee, Masada, Jaffa and was outside of Bethlehem . You must get a tour to Jerusalem & the Dead Sea if you have short amount of time. Jerusalem because it is amazing and the Dead Sea to try out the waters with its buoyancy. It's a got to experience moment if you get the chance.

Hire a Car! If you're ok driving, then it's quite easy once you get the hang of their etiquette. Hire a car from the airport, find the sat nav guy and rent one. It will take you to favorite places/points of interest, very handy but make sure it doesn't overheat when attached to the window, as we expeienced and then got lost...

Israel My room and my daughters' conncecting room was robbed by the housekeeper from all the jewely we had with us. The hotel management and securtiy could not care less. Shame on the Renaissance and Marriott for the worst experience I've ever had traveling.
