Dan was great

Nice hotel right on the ocean. Our rooms overlooked the ocean and were comfortable. The breakfast was really bountiful and good. Would stay again

Everything about the Dan was fantastic from the wonderful staff to the legendary breakfast. As picky New Yorkers my husband and I had been prepared to find conditions below our standards but we were pleasantly suprised! Our king-sized bed faced the sea and was comfy and we work up each morning ready to feast on the endless and delicious Israeli food. We always felt welcome by the staff and knew that they were truly happy to help us. Later on in the stay we switched hotels - we had planned this for a change of locale - and we found ourselves missing the warm, intimate feeling we got at the Dan. Everyone will enjoy themselves here and really feel what the Israeli culture and people are all about!

Dan hotel - home from home

The Dan Tel Aviv has been our home away from home for the past 56 years. As we have grown old in years, so has the Dan grown in size, elegance and luxury. We have grown with it and enjoy the luxury it offers twice a year for short weeks at the hotel.
From the moment we arrive and the doorman offers his arm to my wife for support to emerge from the cab, which we now use to come from Jerusalem, to the reception where we are received by the staff whom we have known for many years, escorted to the room we have asked for, always with the view of the sea. In the room awaits us a gorgeous fruit basket, chocolates and the newspapers in two languages which we are used to.
We do not use the butler service offered since we only wear casual now, we prefer to get down to the pool as soon as we can, where I do my test swim the whole length of the pool under water, which for us is the test of my fitness of an 83 year old. This under the watchful eyes of the lifeguards, my wife and they sigh with relief when I emerge alive and smiling. Then a twenty minute swim, a rest and again another swim, a visit to the extensive exercise room, which is only nostalgia for the days when we tread the treadmill for a few miles daily. Back to the room to shower and dress for lunch where the waiter receives us with a big welcome smile. He knows us from when he was a trainee waiter about twenty years ago.
An afternoon sleep in the huge bed where you can lose sight of each other and then ready for guests who come to talk of old times whom we receive in the executive lounge, tranquil and calm, sipping tea or coffee and talking.
Dinner in the Grillroom, early before the rush, because we have to explain the difficult diet my wife has and needs the personal attention of the chef, but is executed exactly to our instructions and served together with my order. We belong together, we eat together, thank you, headwaiter!
Also it feels good to sit table near table with the rich and mighty of the world.
And to bed again, morning for breakfast which is a culinary adventure in itself. Famed by us, it has become the attraction of our grandchildren to visit and share with grandparents the selection of the untold delicacies on adorned display.
Various family gatherings which cannot be celebrated in Tel Aviv, because many of the family live or work there, are all arranged from the Dan Tel Aviv. Down to the last detail. a family affair with four to five rooms and usually a gala dinner (including my wife's diet) are arranged from the Dan Tel Aviv. Be it Haifa, Elath or Caesaria, Ms. Inbal customer service manager does it from her desk for us.
The Dan Tel Aviv is not only a modern and luxurious hotel it also succeeds to make you feel like a guest 'come home' to family.
We have already planned for June 2007and January 2008.

We are often guests in the Dan Tel Aviv for business reasons. The reason because we choose this hotel for many years is the excellent service and the politness of the staff. Although the rooms are not very fashionable and modern they include everything you need. I would prefer the rooms with seeview. Besides it is just nice to wake up and see th ocean you have also access to the king david crowne lounge, where drinks and food is offered all day.

Great time at the Dan

We stayed at the Dan for 28 hours (Friday afternoon until Saturday night) and it was a great stay. We were upgraded to an "executive" room with a fantastic view of the sea, robes and slippers and a complementary bottle of wine. The weather was wild and stormy but the insulated windows kept the noise and cold out completely. The food was unbelievably great with a fantastic selection of salads and meats and the best desserts I've ever seen and eaten. Service was super polite and generous. The place is a class act in a city and country where elegance and class is a rare commodity. Highly recommended.

The Dan was Excellent

We loved the Dan Hotel. We spent two nights there in December of 2006. The rooms were beautiful sea view rooms. the bathrooms were especially nice, with separate shower stalls and bathtubs. The nicest bathrooms we saw in Israel. The staff at the hotel was helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent. In addition, the location of the hotel on the Promenade was great! I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone that likes a luxury hotel that has character.

Extremely disappointing

Sadly, very disappointed in the service in this hotel.
On our final night, we were told, very late, that no water would be available for much of the following day in our room, which meant that we would have no use of the bathroom or toilet for the hours just before we checked out for the flight. Management were spectacularly unhelpful and dismissive ...if not rude. It took over 2 hours to get moved to a less good hotel - and that was after having to assert our right to running water in a bedroom, far more strongly than would otherwise be necessary.
Over previous nights, housekeeping had only serviced the room as though there was one of us (we were a couple) and took 3 calls to bring additional towels and robes etc. While rooms were great, there are no balconies off any rooms in the hotel, and woodwork getting tatty. Room service food inedible. Overall, very disappointing indeed.

extraordinary! Dan Rules!

We recently spent almost two weeks in Israel,eight of those days at the Dan in Tel Aviv. I just glimpsed at some of the negative reviews of this hotel at this site, and wonder if we stayed at the same place. Before taking our first trip to Israel, we talked to friends and relatives, did research online and talked to the hotel directly. We were pleased beyond our wildest thoughts. When we travel, the first question we ask is: Do the windows open? We had a beachfront room on the Mediterranean, which had three immense picture type windows, all of which swung open. The room was very large with a solid bed and mattress. Ample pillows and towels and a large bathroom with a great shower. If we had a special request, housekeeping was right on it. If you have heard of the legendary Israeli breakfasts, you need look no further. After a Dan breakfast, you will not eat until later on in the evening. We went to one of the friday night buffets and it was the best meal we had in ages. The lobby itself is very large with several rooms, and we can understand that some might like a more updated look. However, on several afternoons the hotel had a gifted piano player and we had much room to try our dance skills with a waltz and an East Coast swing. The hotel is close to many of the major tourist spots and within walking distance of Dizengoff. The view of the Mediterranean is spectacular and a minute or two to go into the water. We recommend this hotel without qualification. Several months after oyur stay there, we still have lingering thought of walking through the Dan Lobby and out onto Hayarkon St. After eating at the Dan, you will want to go out and exercise and walk or rent a bike. I also swam in the pools and they were very clean. The water in the indoor pool was warm and uncrowded in the early AM. We do not feel the rooms and ambience are "dated." They are perhaps not as new as the newest hotel chain, but the facilties are in excellent shape and combined wih the food and service, this hotel is a find.

We were upgraded from the Dan Panorama in Tel Aviv to an Executive Room facing the sea. The room was awesome. The staff were great. The concierge was helpful. The breakfast was very good and the location was good. I really liked this hotel.

We were on the first floor off the lobby with an undisturbed view of the water in a totally comfortable room with a large, lovely bathroom. It was quiet, service was professional and accommodating. The concierge may have been a bit sluggish but others at the hotel were terrific. We were able to make use of the Business Lounge, which has three computers, unlimited food and drinks throughout the day (closed only between 11:30 am and noon). The breakfast was typically Israeli, a full buffet, served in a large and nicely done room. Location is great and we were 100% happy with everything.

Chocolate Heaven Try Max Brenner's for Chocolate everything. You can have dinner here or enjoy a chocolate fix. I love the ambiance and great chocolate everything. I recommend the chocolate fondue for two.

food is fantastic everywhere Even the chain restaurants are very good, go to the Rothchild Avenue, lots of nice restaurants and cafe's there

Nachalat Binyamin On Tuesday's and Friday's, there is a crafts fair on Nachalat Binyamin which is right at the beginning of the HaCarmel market. The crafts market has nice gifts and interesting items to buy, most of which aren't silly souveniers. As long as you're at the Crafts Fair, you can look at the Fruits and cheeses at the HaCarmel market.
