Great Rooms and Location

Just returned from 2 week holiday in Israel, having spent 7 nights at the Dan Panorama in Tel Aviv. We found the staff extremely helpful and courteous in both the dining room and reception and the rooms very comfortable. We stayed in an executive room which seemed to have been recently upgraded. We loved the position of the hotel in Neve Tzedek with lovely cafes and restaurants. We especially recommend the restaurant Manta Ray on the beach towards Jaffa (book at table just before sunset!).

Definitely more than a little tired

Not sure I would rush back here. We had booked a triple room, and it did indeed sleep 3 of us, but it was TINY. Though having said that, the double bed itself would have slept 3 adults !

In its favour, breakfast was fantastic, and the pool was nice (chilly, so very quiet, which was a bonus).

Like so many of the hotels on the front, it seems to have seen better days and just needs a good clean and redecoration project.

Nice hotel

Nice hotel. I've stayed twice, bringing tour groups both times. The rooms are clean and nice, not brand new and a little dated,, but worth the price. The maid service was amazing...they even folded all of my daughter's clothing that was left all over the bed and arranged
all of our toiletries in a little pattern on the bathroom counter. The breakfast buffet was incredible...just beautiful and very good. Dinner was also very good one night, but the other night they put us in a little room and the selection was limited. I'm not sure what was
going on that night. Not the best hotel I've ever stayed in (by Western standards), but clean and worth what we paid. I would stay there again.

Not great, just ok

The Dan Panorama definitely wasn't great. The front desk staff feigned pleasantries, but were very snide and unfriendly at their core. The other review is accurate that the charge for internet use is absolutely ridiculous. However, I have to credit them for their breakfast. It was the largest breakfast buffet I've ever seen in my life--it ran the length of an entire banquet hall. I always chose to eat outside facing the sea and that was by far the best part of the hotel.

The rooms were nice enough, but I never felt entirely comfortable. And they could definitely use some upgrading. However, the view of the sea was lovely (but be prepared for the sound of a lot of street noise if you ever open your window)

Also, just FYI, I tried emailing the Dan Panorama to get some advanced information and they never responded.

It's an ok place to stay for business, but I wouldn't recommend it for a vacation.

Looking a bit tired

I stayed here 5 years ago and thought it was a bit tired then. This time my room, although big, definitely could have used some renovation. The location is a bit out of the centre but next to the David Intercontinental hotel where exhibitions are sometimes held. Breakfast was good but I did not use any of the other facilities. $15 a day for internet access is a rip-off especially given what they charge for a room. In my view, there are hotels that offer better value and location than this one.

This is the close of my fourth business trip to Israel, each one three weeks in length, staying at the Dan Panorama in Tel Aviv every time. They have taken great care of us. The rooms are clean, the view is amazing (across the street from the Meditteranean Sea) and the staff is fantastic, especially in the executive lounge. The location could not be better it is close to so may great resturants, we hardly ate at the same place twice. It is also close to the Jaffa flea market, one of my favorite places.
Note: The tours setup by the hotels to Jerusalem and Acre are well worth the time and very well done.

as a travel advisor member i would like to recommand this hotel because and not only for its great location, superb food, polite staff and large rooms.
the hotel is situated in the center of tel aviv "soho"- neve zedek with wonderfull houses, great restaurants, bars and pubs.
the hotel provids a guided walking tour free of charge!
the hotel has one of the greatest chefs in israel, he is an artist!
all meals are served in the dinning hall facing the sea.
all my needs were cared by attentive staff -i really felt at home.
if you ever need a place to stay in tel aviv i recommand this hotel warmly.

Good hotel for families and groups

I led a large tour (133 people) and we spent several nights here last December. The rooms are large by Israeli standards and can acommodate families with kids in the room. Food was very expansive ann good. Good meeting rooms and lobby. We were able to go to the beach for Friday night candle lighting and it was convenient to the sites.

I have had 2 stays of 4 days each here.

OK, The Good:
Location near the sea, but with a large highway between you and the sea. You can walk to some good local restaurants to the East of the hotel. The lobby area is so-so. There is an outside pool area. In winter, it is empty. The area look OK, a bit tired, will suit a quick swim but I am not sure that you want to spend hours there.

The not so good:
It looks like a 70's concrete tower block. That because it is. The concrete is crumbling. There are huge tourist groups arriving and leaving regularly at this hotel. Get caught behind one, (like I did at reception....) and its a big wait.

Breakfast is in a huge room, a very big buffet, but quality can be improved, and add more western variety. Staff generally ignore you here, you help yourself, they (might) clear your table and bring coffee after you ask. After the second day, I learned to get
that myself too.

I did not eat dinner in this hotel. I was a bit put off from trying. The coffee shop/lounge area on the 1st floor is quiet, dated, and tired, and again staff ignore you here as well.

The room was adequate. Small, I had a back room that was quiet, comfortable enough, with no real view. My first visit, room was better, good sea view.

Lifts: One new one that is "medium" speed, others are old, and of "super-slow" speed. During busy group check-out, oh my, take the stairs, and hope its not too far to walk!

Overall: 1970's nostalgia, busy tourist groups. Not my favorite hotel. Avoid!

Clean no frills just gets the job done

Very close to the beach and great restaurants such as Manta Ray. About a 20 minute walk to Jaffa. The room is a blast from the past and needs a facelift. The bathroom was basic but the shower water pressure could strip the paint off your car and the lightweight shower curtain was a total annoyance. TV does have english stations - enough to get a business traveller through a few nights but not enough to get the kids through a rainy weekend (unlikely in summer anyway). No mini bar but a quick call to room service solved that problem. The breakfast buffet is not the greatest but also not the worst. It is true that you do have to basically put up a flare to get coffee in the buffet though. None of the staff would make eye contact - very annoying. Overall - ok for buiness if you want a good rate - the IHG next door is much nicer if price is no object. I wouldn't take my family there for a holiday.

Top Local Tips for Tel Aviv

Manta Ray Next door to the Dan Panorama is a very fancy dining room. For those who love sea food, get a reservation at Manta Ray, a charming little restaurant at the beach.

United Tours I booked a day trip through the Dan Panorama Hotel. It was with United Tours and we travelled to Masada, the Dead Sea and Ein Gedi Spa. I had a really lovely time. I definitely recommend this tour. They even went out of their way to drop me off at the airport after the tour was over.

For a great meal Book into Nana, a ten minute walk from the Tel Aviv sea front. Fantastic setting with great food and wine.
