Top Local Tips for Jerusalem

Private taxi from the airport directly to the hotel Request a taxi pickup ahead of your journey and the hotel will send one of their staff members for around $50. Its a lot more convenient than the public transportation or the shared taxis which refuse to go up to the Mount of Olives for some odd reason.

Terrible Taxis Don't get in a taxi unless you are certain your driver knows how to get where you want them to go. We had several taxis say they would take us some place then drive around forever trying to find it and then try to charge us extra because they had to drive around.

Jerusalem Ladies should cover up there are a lot of pervy men. A visit to the tourist information by the Jaffa gate to get a good map. Don't go into Bethlehem in a hire car, I was stupid!!
