Top Local Tips for Jerusalem
peanut butter, red wine, beer If peanut butter is important, take little restaraunt style packages with you as it is never served. If beer is important, the beer is great...Gold Star..and readily available. If red wine is important to you...good luck as the Israelis are not drinkers and the hotels we were in did not have a wine list and if you asked for a glass of red wine..it wa often very poor..in spite of having great wineries...the hotels do not promote their wine.
Sherut - Shared Taxi To Jerusalem Be warned that even though the Sherut shared taxi from Tel Aviv airport to Jerusalem is very inexpensive (45 shekels/person), you may have to wait up to an hour before leaving so the driver can fill up his van. If you are in a hurry, take a cab which is approx. 200 shekels.
Restaurant Paradiso... great food and open on Sabbath Restaurant Paradiso has an excellent variety of local and western food with a super attentive service. It is a great alternative on Sabbath when most everything is closed (even some hotel restaurants). Th restaurant is two blocks from the King David Hotel.
