Beautiful hotel,renovated rooms,wonderful staff. Best breakfast in the city. Nice pool,spa,etc.. Good location, easy to walk to emek refaim for top restuarants. Not as "famous" as King David or David Citadel, but, just as good, and may be a better value.

Better than the King David!

We stayed at the Inbal for one night as it was close to the King David, where we had to be for a wedding.
The staff on reception were incredibly helpful and friendly compared to other experiences in Israel and the breakfast buffet was fantastic.
The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable but nothing special.

Great Hotel, and good value

We stayed with two (grown up) kids over a busy August weekend. Hotel staff still very helpful and friendly. Breakfasts are great even by Israeli standards; huge choice of hot and cold items. (lousy coffee though).
Our standard rooms were more than adequate and were clean, modern and quiet.
Location is excellent with nice restaurants nearby, although Old City is at least 20 minute walk away. Bonus is the hotel has lots of parking and don't charge!
Pool area gets crowded in peak season and is a bit noisy. Good restaurant/bar by the pool. Excellent lounge bar and restaurant and not too pricey.

I would heartily recommend this hotel.

Inbal-Excellent Quality Hotel in a Magical City

My family of four recently travelled extensively within Israel, and stayed at the Inbal 3 separate times over a two week period for a total of 6 nights. Our exeprience was excellent. We requested, and received adjoining rooms which were clean, modern and convenient. The service was generally very good, in spite of the hotel being extremely busy. The pool is large and nice. The breakfast buffet, which was included is fabulous. Bountiful and delicious. The location is quite central and convenient, as well as being close to the Old City. If I had to stretch to find something negative, I would again mention that the hotel was quite busy and seemed a bit overrun with people. Also, it is not what I would characterize as a true luxury hotel, if you are looking for a Ritz-Carlton/Four Seasons experience. Nevertheless, it is very suitable for many purposes. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention we had sent some clothes out to the laundry which was quite expensive. They misplaced an article of clothing which I told them about. When we returned a week later for another night, they had found it.

Wonderful hotel in a wonderful City

The Inbal is a wonderful hotel in a wonderful City.

The hotel has been recently refurbished and the rooms are well sized with nice finishes. The public areas are cool and spacious and the pool is excellent. There is also a well equipped modern gym and free car parking. The breakfast was extremely good as was the pool bar service.

However, what in my view sets this hotel apart from others is the sense of peace and quite. During our stay we had reason to visit both the King David and the Citadel hotels ( - the 2 main 5-star hotels in the near vicinity) and found them both too frantic and too much hustle and bustle…

I would certainly recommend this hotel for a relaxing stay in Jerusalem.

stayed at the inbal july 1-8 2007. I had read t/a reviews of hotels on jerusalem and most recommended the inbal. This is a fine hotel, all hotel staff very helpful and attentive. The hotel is very clean and modern and in a great area. The one issue i would mention is.... when having the hotel do your laundry ( it is sent out) ensure you tell them it is to be done by weight, not by the piece. Our bill was $165 for ordinary laundry because of our failure to read the hotel book first. My traveling partners bill was $30 for more laundry. The hotel did adjust the bill to $110 but do pay attention.
Other than that issue, mainly our fault but none the less an issue the hotel could make clearer, this stay was very good. Better even than the the Mayfair Millenium in London.

Good Hotel , in good location

I have stayed in this hotel twice. Once in Dec 2006 and June 2006 both for business travel. I'm from the U.S. and I'm not Jewish.

Pros:
Great location: After a day of working you steps to the old city and other cool places.
Great Breakfast: As far as Israeli breakfast go this one is pretty good
Clean/Nice rooms: I cannot complain the rooms were nicely decorated and very clean. This was not true of the Crowne Plaza and Renaissance Hotel which I have also stayed at in Jerusalem.

Cons:
Wireless internet is $20 a day and it is very slow.
A bit noisy: Lobby sounds filters to all the rooms and some rooms are on the road. Never that much of a problem that I could not sleep.
Beware of mandatory power shutoffs: One night I was their they had a "mandatory power shut off" which meant the power to everything but the rooms was to be turned off. Unclear if this was city or Hotel mandated. They warned all guest. No Big deal, I slept through the night no issue and power was always on in my room. Problem was in the morning they did not have all the power back on(they said it would be on by 5am) and the elevators were still off and the stairs had no lighting in them. I had to take the stairs using my cell phone as the only light around 6:30am just to get downstairs to eat and get to work.. About 7:30am power came back on.....

Many colleagues of mine also travel to Jerusalem from the US and of the hotel my company approves this is the one we all try to get.

If I was traveling on Holiday to Jerusalem this is a Hotel I would feel comfortable booking.

Great Hotel

Great location. We got upgraded from 2 interconnecting rooms, to the Presidential Suite. This was just wonderful. We had a great space to share with our 3 kids. The Shabbas meals and breakfast were terrific. I would only point out one tiny problem.....no fresh juice in the morning, unless you want to pay for it! Other than that an excellent choice!

Noisy unprofessional waiters--Would give three (European) stars

I stayed at the Inbal for two nights. The room was good standard. But I would not give the hotels four stars (judged by European standards). The fitness room was just average and small. The breakfast was really unpleasant. The mostly Arab waiters are unprofessional-they shout accross the room to each other, ignoring the people who are having breakfast-very rude. It seems like the staff are having a "breafast club" and the diners/guests are just a nuisance. bad service is common in israel, but I think my experience at Inbal was a bad average even for Israel. Another annoyance was-I am not an abservant Jew-so the strict observamce of Kashrut laws on the Jewish Shabbath is an anooyance for me. So, having no freshly cooked eggs or omleetes for breakfast on saturday is a feature of more expensive hotels in israel, incuding, of-course, Inbal. Generally, "five star" hotels in israel are overpriced and the service is not good. Inbal is no exception to this, according to my experience. They do not take care to have really good people serving in the restaurant, and perhaps these are hard to come by in israel, as bad service is also my experience in other "five star" hotels in israel.

Ok stay at the Inbal - some issues

Stayed at the Inbal hotel in Jerusalem this Feburary for 5 nights.

Pros: Rooms are recently renovated and quite spacious. The hotel is still under renovation, however, there was never any disturbance from the work that was being done.
Hotel is in a good location, it is walkable from the Jaffa gate in the Old City and the main new city shopping areas.
There are pleanty of restaurants to choose from nearby.
There is a nice pool in the hotel, gym and spa area which is availiable for all to use.

Cons: The main part of the lobby is positioned in such a way that the sound travels up from the lobby to all the rooms which face the lobby. This means that you can hear people talking and playing around quite late in the evening. If possible get a room in one of the side corridors.

Wireless is availiable in the rooms, however, it is quite unreliable and expensive (US$ 20 for 24H or US$ 5 per hour).

Wonderful Shabbat

We stayed for 2 nights in Jan 07, and were very impressed. The rooms aren't as luxurious as the David Citadel but the service/friendliness of the staff was far better. The meals on Shabbat were outstanding - in abundance; no taste of preservatives; wide choice of menu, etc. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. There were well-attended services in the Synagogue. All in all a pleasurable experience

Top Local Tips for Jerusalem

Cell phone Use in Israel For families travelling to Israel for an extended time, it is really convenient to have cellular service. Rather than bring your own cell phone which will incur substantial roaming charges, I recommend renting Israeli cell phones. You can certainly do this when you arrive, but believe it or not, it's easy to do ahead of time. There is a company which rents out Israeli cell phones from the US. Their website address is www.amigo-us.com. The service was cheap and worked perfectly.

Go out and try new things Found many restaurants, shopping and people all over the center of the city. We looked at a place and said, "ok, we'll try it". Found non kosher restuarants as well as kosher that served good food at reasonable prices. People in general were friendly and warm, but boy oh boy, do they love to smoke!

amazing food Go to Mahane Yehuda and to Ben Yeyhuda. Just follow the sounds and smells.
