Top Local Tips for Dead Sea
Half-board is recommended There are no much dining facilities in Ein Bokek, so HB in the hotel can be a good option.
Ahava Plant Visitors Center If you visit the dead sea you must ask them to see the Ahava Plant Visitors Center. Its a few minute drive from all the hotels and you can find great products for great prices. Products include the best Facial Care and sun care. try their mud! i know it sounds messy, it is. But its definitely worth.
Buses on Saturday You have no chance of leaving before 1800 unless you want to pay the rip off taxi, and yes they will approach you at the bus stop, not realising that you are waiting. Its about 42nis to Jerusalem and 55 nis to Eilat. I arrived from Eilat and remember to tell the driver that you want to stop at Ein Bokek otherwise you will by pass it, you know you are near Ein Bokek when you see the Novotel sign.

I was travelling with my son, his friend and wanted to give us all a treat for 1-2 nights. The room was great (although we realised later it was not all that clean) - and the view was fantastic over the Dead Sea. But the restaurant and the service was appalling. The food was the worst I had ever had anywhere - hospital food or work canteen food is far better than that mishmash. The staff did not or did not want to understand English and ignored most requests for anything whatsoever. Complaints were met with a shrug.
I have stayed in hotels all over the world -from small hostels to five star hotel to expensive boutique hotels ... but this was by far the biggest disappointment - expectations were high, but totally let down. And it seemed that no-one cared either.
Definitely a hotel to be avoided - unless you like to throw money out ...
