Top Local Tips for Dead Sea
Stay only at a hotel with an ajacent beach The main reason for staying at the Dead Sea is the sea. Most of the hotels in the area are not directly on the sea shore, but rather across a street or farther away. This means that you need to take a shuttle or walk, sometimes quite some distance. There are only 6 or 7 hotels directly on the shore, most of which are not very good. I can suggest the Hod Hamidbar (quiet, although not equipped for children) or the Crowne Plaza Holiday Inn (which may be a bit over crowded or noisy especially on holidays or weekends).
Massada fort at sunrise go to the top of the hill for the sunrise. Take the eggs. Priceless !

Our rooms had views of the Yam Hamelech (Dead Sea). The rooms were nicely furnished, had modern marble/tile bathrooms, hair dryer, coffee service. The rooms were 1st class.
The Hod is right on the water - walk out of the hotel directly to the water at their private beach. Or go to the outdoor pool or the indoor hot salt water tubs. Or have a treatment at the spa.
Large dining room with fantastic view of the water & hills. We had breakfast there. Great variety of fruit, vegetables, salads, fish, cheeses, beverages, cereals, and hot food.
Helpful staff - speak English.
A first class hotel for a modest price.
A 10 minute drive to Masada.
We are anxious to return.
