Top Local Tips for Monmouth
Airports serving Monmouth Monmouth is at least an hour from major airports. Don't assume though, that your choices of airport are Cardiff and Bristol. Both take at least an hour to get to (Bristol is especially awkward from Monmouth). We live in Monmouth and think of Birmingham as our local airport. Outside the rush hour, Birmingham airport can be reached via the M50, M5 and M42 motorways in about an hour and a quarter. Flights are often cheaper from Birmingham than from Cardiff or Bristol, too.
The Castle If castles are your thing, Monmouth's castle will disappoint. There's very little of it left and it takes all of five minutes to view, so if you are using Monmouth as a base for touring, go to any of the many castles in the area, such as Raglan.
