ll second that.
from A TripAdvisor MemberRefurbishments are done for a reason, and although the cleanliness throughout the hotel is spotless, it is a bit dated. But this minor fault is certainly made up for with the excellent service given by the staff within each department. Reception are always there to handle my requests, small & large, without hesitation and check in & out are done professionally but in a friendly way. My company only pay for B&B but I always find the perfect way to end my stressful day is a relaxing dinner in the restaurant. Again the restaurant staff can't do enough, not just for myself but looking round each diner is made to feel special AND appreciated! Which some places I've stayed in could learn from. The food can't be faulted with a varying menu each night I stay.
I think a mention too for the people behind the scenes i.e. maintenance. Had a couple of times when needed to report something in my room needing minor attention (remember refurbishments are done for a reason) but on my return from working the problem was sorted. No Stress for me again!
I for one will continue using the hotel throughout the work being carried out and I'm sure my rating won't change because in my experience I doubt many hotels could put as much effort into making someones stay as comfortable as possible, through any difficult situation, as they do.
It's a shame more reviewers don't look at this hotel in a more positive light. They are about to go through a major change and it's all for the better. Both for the hotel and for us guests. Thank you St. George's. Keep it up!
Victorian hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberA very enjoyable short holiday
from A TripAdvisor MemberNeeds a makeover
from A TripAdvisor MemberThere were a lot of American visitors staying who seemed quite happy so I,m of the conclusion that they had been allocated better rooms than ourselves.
On a plus note the staff were friendly enough, and the breakfasts were excellent. Didn,t dine in the restaurant at night so can,t comment.
Overall the place needs a complete makeover to restore its self to its former glory. Definitely the worse of the hotels we have stayed in at LLandudno.
Won,t be going back.
Nice hotel, excellent staff, good location
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe food at the hotel is very nice, well presented and cooked the restaurant and bar staff were both friendly and worked hard despite being given the run around by my colleagues. The staff went out of their way to help us.
Unfortunately when I returned to the St Georges for the second week I did not get my suite back but a room so small that it would have fitted in the bathroom from my suite (room 109), this I could handle as I wasn’t paying for it, what made it unbearable was that the room faced the car park at the back of the hotel and had a flat roof right outside the window, so the window barley opened. The weather was extremely hot at the start of July and there was no ventilation at all in the room. I asked the reception staff if I could be moved to a room on the outside of the hotel, they obliged my giving me room 101, I was warned that the door handle was faulty, but the room had a window on the outside of the hotel so I didn’t mind, the door handle came off in my hand when I went to see the room, this was quickly repaired by a handyman. Again this room (a twin) was much smaller than the suite, the bathroom was a shower cubicle and a toilet. The room was a good size with a nice breeze.
The hotel is in a good location, the pier is visible from all front facing room and several side facing rooms, there is a pleasant seaside atmosphere in the area, and it’s safe to walk around at night. The hotel has entertainment provided during the evenings in the bar, karaoke, singer, quiz nights etc, all free and good entertainers. The hotel is old, but not run down, I could use having a fee carpets replaced around the place but there’s nothing that will ruin your stay. It is a little pricey, the food, £23 for a three course meal, and I understand the rooms cost a fair bit. As I say I didn’t have to pay for food or accommodation. I would recommend the hotel, I’d even stay here again, even pay for it myself.
Scruffy and expensive
from A TripAdvisor MemberThis place needs some serious money spent to justify charging £80 for a twin room with no view. The ground floor is acceptable for a busy hotel, but looks tired and in need of a good clean. To describe our room as tired is being kind; peeling wallpaper, dirty carpet, a beat-up ex-rental tv (by the look of it), and a dingy bathroom with added feature of alternating hot and cold shower. The Promenade in Llandudno is lined with hotels, many of which offer far better value.
The St Georges has supposedly had a recent refurbishment - it obviously didn't include the room I stayed in - nor the threadbare carpet on the stairs.
nice but dated
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe staff were all polite and very helpfull the hotel still has its victorian appeal
ok hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberNever say never again
from A TripAdvisor MemberWell, I hoped that I'd just drawn an unlucky weekend that first time and this time it would not be so dire.
I was out of luck.
By George that staff sure need some training. The reception staff treated me as something the cat had brought in - just a conference person. They could not deliver a newspaper, but they could charge for it. The dining room staff did not have a clue how to treat anyone. They could not cope with a orders, or serving the whole table (of 4) together or correctly. The kitchen could not cope with garnishing, bread or toast. The food was cold overcooked and bland all at the same time and at £21.95 an evening meal is not good value for money. They need positive management, a good maitre d' and loads of training.
I'm due to go to Llandudno - a charming resort - again this autumn, but have already told my boss that this Dragon will not be fighting St George.
bad staff
from magicthomasOur room was the smallest I have ever seen. The television & two of the lights did not work as well as the shower being so dirty I could not bring myself to wash in it.
The staff are unhelpful and ignorant to the point of rudeness particularly reception staff, with the dining room staff being not much better. Our waiter had a limited level of english and could barely take our order.
The food can be called mediocre at best and is certainly not worth the long wait. Breakfast was inedible.
For anyone consiering going to Llandudno I would recommend staying elsewhere.

Llandudno as a 'jumping off' location This town is small and sheltered in its own bay and is located so close to Snowdonia and the Isle of Anglesey.
