Top Local Tips for Haverfordwest
Hiking (or 'walking') in this area is outstanding. The National Coastal path goes right through St. Davids. This is vigorous walking - not the overcrowded, steep misery of hiking in the New England area. You can walk along cliffs where every corner has a different view. The path is very well marked, but still low-key. We walked 10 miles a day with hiking boots and walking sticks. Lots of archeological sites, birds, mountain scenery, farms, little stone beaches, history and magnificent tidal currants sweeping past stony islands. there are also boat trips to see local birds and animals, such as enormous gray seals. When you are tired of hiking, go to the cathedral town of st. david's and enjoy the fabulous historical sites. We can't wait to return.
Location Unspoilt location - a real "Swallows and Amazons" destination even in high summer. Do walk on the coastal paths and enjoy the rugged coastline and unfrequented beaches. Great music at the cathedral so plan in advance.
