Brilliant Hotel

from ThompsonNJ
We stayed at the hotel on a hen weekend and had a fantastic time. The room is huge with really comfortable beds and a plasma tv. The bathroom is excellent - the power shower is big enough for two. You get free tea/coffee and muffins 24 hours which is exactly what you need when you get back at 4am!! The only thing I will say is the bar prices are really expensive. It cost £14 for three shorts, so we only had the one before we went out! The breakfast was really good and had lots of choice - we couldn't stop going back for more.

Great value

Very impressed with this great hotel.

Plenty of parking, huge bedrooms, powerful shower, 5 Star breakfast, friendly and efficient staff - and all this for £50 per night. We will be going back.

Great hotel for the business traveller

from A TripAdvisor Member
Having read the reviews I was really looking forward to staying at this hotel, and despite it's out of the way location the hotel is very nice, modern and clean. The rooms are very large and the shower was fantastic. However, a warning to those who are staying here on hen/stag/party weekends, yes it's cheap, but the bar described on the website as "open 24 hours to residents" is most certainly not.

great hotel

i recently stayed at this hotel for my boyfriends 21st birthday. the hotel is amazing, friendly staff, always spotlessly clean, there is only one downfall of the hotel and it is not about the hotel it is about the position of the hotel you need a car or could get a taxi to get around as it is a walk to cardiff town because of the roads.
apart from this would definetly recommend this hotel and would definetly use this hotel again.

good value but only for business

from stevenjf
if you want a good value hotel with a large bedroom inc free broadband and tasty free breakfast and be a 10 mins walk from the centre of town then this is it . however i was a little shocked to find this hotel next to a railway line , close to a road bridge connecting two nearby roundabouts and a vw dealership ! to be honest i almost turned around to find another place to sleep but i went in and i am quite happy i did . i wasnt disturbed by any noise from the railway line or traffic or other guests ! the lcd tv screen was good and the bathroom / showeroom a good size and more than adequate .
note i went to Cardiff on business and wouldnt really want to stay here for any other reason with all due repect to the helpful staff unless you fancy the economy .

Good, new hotel but a little out of the way

Stayed at the Lodge for two nights while at a meeting in Cardiff.
Check in was very easy and was given a very nice new room on the second floor. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom immaculate. My room was at the very end of the corridor and had a vent of some sort above it which constantly made a gurgling noise, which might have been annoying if I was a light sleeper.

The rooms have wall mounted flat screen TVs which is a nice touch but not all of the sports channels were working all the time.

The breakfast area is large and breakfast was fantastic considering it was included in the price. The staff were always helpful and friendly.

It is about a ten - fifteen minute walk from the ctiy centre which involves crossing a dual carrigeway road which was always busy. There was plently car parking space though.

Would stay there again as much better than the other 'cheap alternative' chain hotels available.

Great staff, great hotel.

We've never been to Cardiff before but were looking for a short break with a two year old and a baby. Got a lovely room with two double beds and an LCD TV. Fantastic power shower. VERY clean. Beautiful full cooked breakfast and free soft drinks in the foyer 24 hours. Wonderful friendly staff. Great location. No food on site in evening but they'll bring any take away you order to the room with crockery. Can't recommend it enough.

Stayed here for one night with my fiancee recently.
The price for the room was excellent - £60.
The hotel is very new & clean with all mod-cons.
The room was huge with comfy beds & flat screen tv & air-con. Brilliant bathroom with top notch shower that you want to stay in for hours.

Breakfast is buffet style of cereal, breads, jams etc (no fry-ups)

Taxi from hotel to city or bay area costs about £5 & takes a couple of mins.

The only 2 minor points abou the hotel is:
1) would advise getting taxi back after dark as the walk back from the bay area or city is a bit on the dodgy side
2) There is a railway line behind the hotel which is used for transporting frieght which woke me up at about 2 in the morning.

However, will still definetely go back.

Not for a long stays

from drunkenfly
This hotel is new and clean. The personnel is attentive and nice. But I would not recommend that hotel to anybody, who needs to stay more than one night. This is because that hotel does not have it's own restaurant/cafe and there is no restaurants nearby. The closest you can get is in the city center, 10-15 minutes walk.

Superior quality and value in every way

from carinab2
I booked this hotel basis on reviews here and also the price I got on their site. I was not disappointed in the slightest. It is brand new and spotlessly clean. There is excellent quality everywhere, from the lovely breakfasts to the very well appointed rooms. There is even coffee/tea/hot chocolate(!) making facilities and muffins in the lobby 24-hours. I can't actually fault it at all. Taxis into town cost £3-5 at the most, but you could walk it. One of the best hotels I've stayed in and would return.
