Well situated, good decor and very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was good but sometimes service can be a little slow.

Fabulous Hotel

from joannaSouthWales
Stayed at hotel January 2005.

Cannot think of a bad word to say about this fabulous hotel.

The staff are friendly and helpful, room was fantastic, hotel building itself is absolutely stunning and food delicious.

Don't even consider staying anywhere else in Cardiff.

Ten minute walk into town centre with shops, things to see etc.

Stayed here for a weekend in January 2005. Excellent service, clean, good-sized room. Quiet, too. Ate in the restaurant one night and was served delicious food at a very reasonable price. Pool/spa is also very good. Also had a massage - one of the best I've ever had. Felt very relaxed for days afterwards!
Would happily stay here again.

We stayed at the Holland House for 1 night in August 2004. Having booked a late break deal, it was a steal at just £60 for the night, but we would have paid more! (Although the price to park added to this as it wasn't cheap!)

The room was clean and well presented. The bathroom was GORGEOUS! The staff were helpful and courteous. If we had to pick a down side, it would be only that the windows and exterior still needing a bit of modernising, but that's the only thing, and it didn't really affect our stay.

Definitely stay here as it's a great location and a lovely hotel. A fantastic addition to Cardiff, and one to rival St David's (having stayed there too)!!

A+++ staff very friendly and helpfull

Stayed at the hotel all week, foudn facilities fantastic the Manager Avril was pleasant and very helpfull as so was Keily the Shift manager
Rooms were cleaned service next to none.
Do not have internet access PC's but wre nice enough for me to use their own system for a few minutes to get an important email.

The pool , sauna, Jacuzzi and Steam room all were free for hotel guests
great way to unwind. Even has a modern gym as well.

My room had a wide screen TV with some satelite channels and also stereo which you could play music and here it in the batroom while you shower pure bliss , views were great i was on the 9th floor.

I recommed to any business person wanting to stay in Cardiff

Impressive Holland House

I stayed at the MacDonald Holland House Hotel for a weekend during September 2004. I was in Cardiff for a wedding and the groom recommended this hotel. I have to say that I was very impressed with all aspects of my stay in the hotel - The reception staff were very courteous and efficient in booking me in - they greeted me by name everytime I went to the reception desk during the weekend. The room was superb with a large and very comfortable bed, huge TV, Hifi, couch and armchairs, desk and a fantastic corner bath and separate power shower - my room was on the corner of the building and had a magnificent 180 degree view across Cardiff. The only meals I ate in the hotel were breakfasts and they were fine - good selection of traditional hot breakfast fayre and pastries, fruit and cereals. I used the swimming pool once which was quite big as indoor hotel pools go. In summary the quality of the hotel facilities and attentiveness of the staff were second to none and I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone.

This is THE hotel to stay in when visiting Cardiff

We stayed at Holland House in October for one night, and loved it. We were upgraded to a suite and the views over Cardiff were incredible. Food for dinner was excellent and the choice at breakfast was huge. Service is very good. This is one of the few hotels in the UK that have plenty of staff, who go out of their way for the guests.

I would recommend this hotel, as THE hotel to stay in while visiting Cardiff.

stayed here last night and had to write a review as it was so good! friendly staff, good location (about 3 mins walk to Queen St), nice breakfast, free use of pool, sauna, jacuzzi, bright, clean interior and the room was excellent. We were on the 12th floor and the room was absolutely huge with fantastic views across to the docks and out to sea. the pool was slightly chilly (!) but fine once you were in and swimming. really can't see why this isn't a 5 star hotel. definitely recommend it and will stay here again - wish our stay could have been longer!

After reading other reviews on this site we decided to spend my husbands birthday at this hotel. It did not disappoint.
From the time we arrived - we checked in at 1pm, 3 hours ahead of the official checking in time- until the time we left we were made to feel special.
We chose a club queen room which had many extras not included in other 4 star hotels. The breath taking view alone (we were on the 10th floor) was worth the money, but added to that the luxury toileteries, bathrobes, widescreen t.v, c.d player (with speakers in the bathroom!), leather sofa and loads of other special touches meant that we had a lovely weekend and left feeling relaxed.
The food from the hotel's restaurant is also worthy of a mention. Both the buffet breakfast and our meal chosen from the dinner menu was delicious, and again the attention to detail was such that our evening was memorable.
This hotel cannot be recommended enough- and we look forward to returning next year when it will certainly be rewarded with the 5 star status that it and its staff deserve.
