Fantastic hotel, clean and friendly!
The staff couldn't do enough to help me, they were all fantastic - always smiling. The rooms were basic but very clean.
I would stay here again. Had the best holiday ever!

It was the first time we visited this location. We found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. My wife required a special diet (gluten free) which was always fulfilled, although more choice would have been better. Would not be afraid to use this hotel again.

We spent a very enjoyable week at the Highland Hotel, Strathpeffer at the beginning of July and have to say that we received a cheerful and very helpful welcome from the reception and the room staff who were anxious to help with extra pillows etc. Indeed we found all the staff very hard working and willing and above all cheerful. We found the dining room a little dark in outlook but this was made up for by the quality and adequate quantity of the food - there was also a good choice of menu. The hotel itself is a grand old building in a dominating position looking down over the village square. We had a large, light clean room with everything we needed replenished and replaced everyday. We faced the front and did indeed have the 'scenic view' we had requested which was lovely. The entertainment in the evening was mostly easy listening music which speaking personally was just what we needed after a tiring day - but having said that, on our last evening when there was a large influx of a slightly younger age group the entertainer responded immediately and he kept everyone very happy and lively for the whole of his session. There were three different seating areas all within hearing distance of the music and this made it convenient if you wanted to sit and chat with music in the background, so I feel most people were well catered for. Strathpeffer must have been a wonderful town to arrive in when coming for the spa in the Victorian times and now has a faded grandeur which is lovely. It is a quiet village but in the summer every Saturday evening you are regaled by a marching Pipe Band and children doing Scottish dancing which is delightful. All in all, we felt that we had a holiday that was excellent value for money and exceeded our expectations.

Lovely Rita!

This is a fabulous hotel. Bearing in mind it isn't a 5* pamper palace, you'd be struggling to find a hotel anywhere with such friendly staff, surroundings.

I travelled with my mother, so we had 2 single rooms, both very spacious and clean. Maybe the only criticism would have been the lack of a shower in the bathroom, although the bath was perfectly adequate and you could ask for a shower attachment at reception.

The food really was excellent, perfectly adequate for most appetites, although being of a slightly large build(!) a larger portion would have been welcome. The staff are really friendly too, and if you are lucky to have Rita as your regular waitress you're guaranteed the brightest smile in the highlands during your stay.

The entertainment wasn't to my taste, but being a good few years younger than the average there, that's no criticism. Overall, heartily recommended.

Stayed last week at this hotel and Ican honestly say I have never had food like it. The offerings were awful, but mercifully small and a a lot of the guests took to eating out at night. The hotel itself is in a good position and seems clean and tidy but the staff could do with some organisation and proper training. There isn't much to do in this part of Scotland or indeed in Strathpeffer, therefore what passes for entertainment has you held captive every night. Never again. I am a 53 year old lively woman who feels like I've just spent a week in a rest home, fine I guess if you're actually in your eighties, otherwise don't bother.

You get what you pay for in life and my husband and I reckoned Shearings Highland Hotel to be excellent value for money. The staff, mainly Eastern Europeans, were hard working, polite and friendly. We could only be positive with our feedback and will recommend a trip to friends and family. We'd have no hesitation of booking another holiday.

We had the most wonderful time in strathpeffer and the highlands hotel was the perfect spot for our trip. The hotel is large and grand, overlooking the main square, we were very well catered for. rooms were large and airy with lovely views spotlessly clean and tidy. We were on an all inclusive deal and were pleasantly surprised with the range of excellent food on order. Every taste catered for and plates plentiful! just what you need after a long day walking, packed lunch was even supplied for our trips out. Nightly entertaintment was relaxed and informal, with plenty of options if you want to be in the midst of it, or in the background in a little quieter area. All the hotel staff were superb catering for our every needs and very friendly. Strathpeffer itself is an excellent base to explore the highlands, short drives to Ullupool, Beauly and beyond. If like us, we didnt take use the car once! stroll down to the old victorian railway station where the cafe serves the best coffee & cream scones! is the tourist information where we picked up some great walking maps. Head up Knockfarrel for some spectacular views across the whole area and beyond, or head out to Garve to Rogie falls, the waterfalls are beautiful! Plenty to see and do for all ages and all types. Highly recommended we cant wait to go back! Catriona & Kevin Glasgow
