I stayed in the Potcullis from the first to the twelth of February. I enjoyed the stay, the rooms were clean a good size and best of all a nice view over Stirling . The staff as well were very nice and friendly and were always ready to help . The complimentary breakfast was ideal, very nice and the staff would always try to help if there was something wrong.

This place has great views, as it is located on a hill top overlooking the town of Stirling. The room was kept very clean and tidy. Staff were very friendly and responsive at the tiniest request and at every opportunity. But I must say that the very best of what this hotel can offer is the food! Never had better finely-prepared and presented quality food in Scotland. I completely disagree with what was mentioned in the previous review as the management lady was super nice, friendly and serving in the most respectable manner... An impeccable and professional service in every sense. It is definitely a place to visit if you are in Stirling.. if not to stay, at least have a meal!!
Disappointing accommodation

I stayed in this hotel for one night in Sept 2005, cost approximately $140. The room was very small with one twin bed. It had a view of the roof with bars on the windows, the floor creaked, the bedspread had a large stain on it the toilet seat was left up, (I was not sure if the maid left it that way or a man was in the room before me using my toilet). The proprietor, a blond woman 30ish was obnoxious, not helpful, and very unfriendly. I was told she was the owner by the person running the bar. The free morning breakfast: this same woman served breakfast in the morning (no buffet), she took my order, and left me sitting by myself for several minutes, I had to get my own coffee refills, old and stale form a pot left on the burner to long. I was told before I booked here this was a friendly, family run hotel. My experience was much less than nice or friendly. For a weary, lone traveler this hostile accommodation was very disappointing. I stayed in Hotels all over Scotland and I have to say this was the worst.
