from lillisaPenrithIt was OK
from macaroon68Well worth a visit.
from AdmiralAwesomeOverall our stay at the hotel was a very enjoyable holiday experience. This was also heightened by the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff there.
We would not hesitate to go back.
Nice
from MacNorthernIrelandOn the positive side the outside access was good for allowing our dog out at night.
The bedroom was clean and nicely decorated, bed was rather small, ceiling low and the window small although the view from it was fanastic. The lighting was insufficient if you wanted to read.
We had dinner in the restaurant and I couldn't fault it, the service and the food where both great as was the breakfast.
The location beside Loch Lochy was fantastic and you could walk down to the waters edge.
Perfect in everyway!
from sunshine85NorthWalesWe were after a little bit of luxery and comfort near all the sights. We stayed in a standard room on b&b basis £70 a night!
Our room was something very special, really clean and homely with an excellent ensuite. But most amazing thing was the view. Waking up in the morning looking onto a huge loch, blue skies and a mountains in the back ground was a great way to start the day.
Breakfast supplied downstairs was lovely - they would cook anything you requested. But the menu was enough choice by far. We also ate here our first evening, menu was lovely and reasonably priced.
The bar was open allday and they had a decking with seats looking onto the loch to enjoy drinks.
Sights such as Loch ness was about an hours drive away. Nevis was about 20 mins drive into fort william.
Recommended to anyone!
Fantastic break
from jonesy47On arrival we were greeted and made to feel at home instantly, the room was spacious with an art deco bathroom you would not believe. We stayed for 3 nights and ate there 2 nights out of 3, the chef needed complimenting on his fare with fresh vegetables all the time, all the staff were a pleasure to deal with and nothing was too much trouble. well worth a visit, the only downside a car is essential for this area as taxis are almost none existant and the premiums required are excessive.
Romantic Stunning Setting ,Home From Home
from InvernessLilyI have to say he couldn't have picked a more romantic setting ,the scenery is second to none .The combination of snow tipped mountains and breathtaking views over loch Lochy was absolutely gorgeous.
We were warmly greeted on our arrival by the manager of the hotel kevin .
We were shown to our room,in this case the white room .
The room was very spacey and spotlessly clean ( a credit to the housekeeper).
One of the windows looked out onto the nearby mountains .
We had booked to have our evening meal in the Hotel restaurant .
The restaurant backs onto the sun deck overlooking the loch ,once again the views were stunning.
Kevins wife Meg served us at our table ,she was warm and friendly and guided us through the menu .
We both had medallions of Beef with veg etc
I had a desert ,my husband had a selection of cheeses .
The meal was cooked to perfection ,the portions were plentiful ,the service was speedy .
The chef Paul is certainly a credit to the hotel ,his menu caters to a large variety of taste .
We had drinks in the hotels lounge area ,with its large leather suite it was very relaxing.kevin took the time to stop and chat with us and give us some tips on where to visit in the local area .
Breakfast was as we expected a hearty meal to set us up for the day .
Kevin and Meg made us very welcome ,nothing was too much trouble .Letterfinlay is certainly a home from home
Heavenly Highland Haven!
from BlueskydaySCotlandAs soon as we arrived the hotel felt warm and welcoming and the Kevin - the hotel manager - checked us in and showed us to our cozy, freshly refurbished room with wonderful views of the loch. We had dinner that evening and the food was delicious - service very relaxed and friendly.
We tried a few of the famous Malts too.
Breakfast the next morning was very good - Full Scottish - yummm.
There's lots to see and do nearby - it's a short drive to Nevis Range with the Gondola and Ben Nevis if you are feeling energetic or in the other direction there's the famous Loch Ness. It's perfect walking country too and apparently in the summer they have a speed boat on the water which can take you across to the other side of the loch for your very own picnic on a secluded beach.
We couldn't fault it really - Dinner the second night was every bit as good and we have already booked to go back in the summer to have dinner on the Osprey Sundeck and watch the boats sailing by on their way North.
We paid just £70 per night for the room Bed and Breakfast so really good value. We think we have stumbled upon a real find - hurry along before everyone else finds it!
Top Local Tips for Spean Bridge
wot no taxis Having arrived by train to Spean Bridge, we were fortunate to have friends pick us up otherwise we would not have known what to do as there is no taxi rank. the train station is an unmanned one so would recommend booking seats to and from Spean Bridge prior to journey as Fort William is about 17 miles away to do this.
Booking restaurants.... If dining out on a weekend, ensure you book in advance. As it is only a small place everything seems to get fully booked up very quickly!
drive yourself if you must go to malaig don't waste your money on the steam train drive instead.
