We had a fantastic break over the September weekend. Not only my husband and I but also my parents and parents-in-law thouroughly enjoy ourselves but the treatment afford to my one year old son was first class. All the staff should be complimented on the care and attention we received.
We will definitely be back!

Not family friendly at all

Despite checking this hotel was suitable for a large family party, and being assured that it was, this hotel is not family friendly at all. The Saturday night 'entertainer' thought it appropriate to threaten a TWO year old child with his belt... enough said. Avoid.
Excellent Value for Money

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Pitlochry Hydro and although I would not usually take the time or the trouble to post a review I feel that a recommendation is well deserved.
The food was very good. Three choices of starter.. not orange juice! Main courses included chef's specials and veggie option and a good selection of desserts including fresh fruit or cheese. Restaurant staff were efficient, attentive and friendly. Food was hot and plentiful.
The room was exceptionally comfortable and well worth the extra charge we paid for a view. We had an enormous bay window overlooking the hotel garden and distant mountains. Room and the bathroom were spotlessly clean.
Nightly entertainment was excellent in the hotel, dancing and quiz on two evenings, comedy and folk music on the other two.
On the first night we ventured down to Pitlochry but were disappointed with the local pubs, especially the price of the drinks, and the walk back up hill to the hotel was a bit of a pull! However, we found we were quite happy to stay in the hotel in the evenings.
We enjoyed our stay and recommend this hotel.

Upgrading of hotel long overdue, food strictly average, obviously preprepared, not for the gourmet, despite the large array of good local produce available.
Room large but bed uncomfortable, shower etc satisfactory. No scottish beer on tap!!! Obviously catering for the English tourist. Staff pleasant.

Stayed at this hotel for a short break 31/03/06 to 02/04/06. Hotel was clean and tidy, entertainment was appropriate(!). The food although not massive in quantity was very good and sufficient for most peoples needs.Leisure facilities were excellent: pool, sauna etc.
What makes this hotel special is their staff who all do their utmost to be friendly and helpful.Nothing was too much trouble for them.
For the costs involved for a short break I cannot reccomend this hotel high enough.
One tip pay the extra for a room with a view. This avoids being above the kitchens etc, which can be noisy all night running the machinery. Anyway the view from the front of the hotel was great.

Dress for the weather If you are prepared for inclement weather you will get moreout of a break here. Winter scenery and walks are exceptional.
Fancy a day-trip? Take the GNER Highland Chieftain service to Edinburgh for a nice day out. It's only around £15 per adult for a cheap-day return, and well worth it.

The reception was smart and furnished with new carpets. The lounges were of a very high standard of furniture, lighting and carpets. The bar was well equipped and modern.
The dining room afforded a maitre d' who was attentive and efficient at all times together with staff who were always quietly efficient. We enjoyed the varied menu, the food was well cooked, hot and well presented. Individual tables were provided for couples and the seating, pottery and environment were condusive to enjoyable meal times.
We were accomodated in a large bedroom which was well furnished with modern bed covers and matching curtains and the bathroom was large and clean.
Obviously a lot of thought, time and money have recently been spent on this hotel and it showed. We will be returning.
