Could not do enough for us. Hotel spotless. Clean sheets every day and replenished drinks tea, coffee, hot, choc, and bikkies. Breakfast was great. Drinks were at a reasonable price as was evening meal menu. Easy acccess for all transport. We tried to book for New Year, but were told it was fully booked. We will be back in the near future. A good place to stay

The Kelvin is conveniently located to most of the activities that Oban has. it is also a convinient base for the bus, ferry and train to go to many places in this part of Sctoland. Sheena (the host) and her family are friendly, approachable and are interested and concerned about their guests.
I found the Kelvin a clean and safe place to stay (this is important to me). I enjoyed my stay with them.

Great Night Out - In

My self and my 2 friends had a brilliant night at the kelvin hotel, we decided to go out for dinner have a few drinks and go back to the hotel. It was a brilliant night in the bar - playing pool (or trying) having a few drinks then bed. The room we where in was perfect for us, it had 3 single bed very clean. Thanks to Sheena and the bar staff for a great stay.

Dissapointed with this hotel. Booked online after reading these reviews. Alas, I have now come to the conclusion not to believe all that you read. Oban is a beautiful place and we enjoyed our weekend out and about, but you like to come back in at night and being a hotel you expect to be able to get a drink from the bar, (not here).... we arrived late on the Friday evening and unpacked, went downstairs to have a drink and we were told that the bar would be closing at 11-3 pm (not very good for a Friday night and after a three hour drive). We went out to eat on Saturday evening as they don't provide an evening meal service. We arrived back just after midnight expecting to have a nightcap to find the hotel all locked up. If we had realised that this would be the case, we would have booked a bed and breakfast because at the end of the day that is the service that this hotel is providing. Overall, appearance of hotel a bit shabby and could be cleaner We won't be using this establishment again.

Came across this Hotel on the net and I am glad I did! Perfect location next to Train Station and Ferry Terminal. You were made to feel most welcome by Sheena and staff, who could not do enough to make your stay comfortable. Rooms neat and tidy and serviced daily. Brekfast was delicious and bar was well stocked with a very helpful bar manager. Highly recommended. Will definitely stay there again.

I needed a hotel that could accomodate 12 divers after a week spent in Mull. Sheena was a great hostess, and made time to make sure everything was as we wanted it. The Kelvin is in great and very clean order throughout. We had a meal there also which was excellent. Highly recommended.

Sheena is a poppet - really welcoming and does a grand breakfast. Nothing too much trouble. Quiet clean room with the softest towels ever!

I found the staff to be pleasant and friendly. The food was fine and the room spotless. All in all great value for money!

Great location and value for money. High standard of cleanliness and very comfy, breakfast tasty, very friendly bar and helpful barman. Helpful - carried out heavy suitcases to our room. Homely! We will be back - a great stop on our way to the islands.

The only positive recommendation is that it's, next to the ferry terminal. The unconcerned and rude staff combine perfectly with grubby rooms in a building desperately in need of painting and a thorough cleaning. Marginally better than sleeping in your car.
