I am 79 years and was at the Caledonion Hotel Nov 17th for 5 days. The was out of order all the time. I had 5 flights of stairs to climb each time to the room which was cold, but clean. Breakfasts were ..ok .... evening meals were awful. Just fancy small portions no potatoes, just large bowl of mixed veg. Staff were pleasant. Bar area was very cold until the last evening we were there. I certainly will NOT recommend anyone to go there.

I have never been moved enough to write a review before, but I am desperate to prevent anyone else from ruining their weekend by staying at this shabby, damp-smelling, appalingly run establishment. We went to Oban for a wedding and several friends also stayed at the hotel. In our small, dingy room, the 'curtains' (I use the term lightly) didn't even reach the sides of the window so we were woken up as soon as the sun made an appearance. If they were going for a nautical theme with the plastic white square, strung up by roap, they failed. There was no shower head in the bathroom and our 'romantic bay view' would have been more accurately described as, 'a train station view'. A point I find particularly galling as I had particularly requested a nice room and was assured by the 'honest' staff that it was one of the best. Our friends suffered equally with masking tape on the windows (presumably to keep out a draught?') and a toilet that didn't flush. I could go on but I hope you're...... Read more

Embarrasment to Oban

This hotel deserves minus 5 stars. Any good reviews you have read are forged. It is common knowledge in Oban that this hotel is a complete let-down in every aspect. The staff are unfriendly and untrained, the food is overpriced and bog-standard processed stuff, the hotel is noisy and generally a rotten place to stay. Do not even think of staying or eating there.

Horrendous Experience!!!!

We booked a standard room with this Hotel. We arrived & were greeted by friendly staff. I was advised there was a Valet service costing £5.00 per day. I was assured there was CCTV & an attendant so my car would be safe. My room was nice but the lovely view was ruined by dirty windows. I got no sleep for the duration of my stay as there was a taxi rank situated outside the Hotel. People would stand screaming/shouting outside our single glazed windows after leaving pubs/clubs. We complained to the receptionist who admitted that they had received complaints in the past & had often had to call the police (still they didn't invest in double glazing). On departure I was informed by car window had been smashed. It turns out the Hotel park your car in the local train station car park which the public have 24hr access to. The Hotel also have the cheek to charge £2 extra compared to the train station. It cost us £125 to get car fixed. The Hotel refused to help with this cost as...... Read more
