Great hotel. Food and service 1st class. So good we have booked xmas dinner and overnight! Hope credit crunch doesn't effect service and quality.

Excellent staff, bad dinner!

The staff were very polite. The room was nice. Drinks were expensive. We went for dinner and the menu had very little choice. We ordered a steak, waited about half an hour on the meal arriving. When it came, I was shocked at the portion. It was tiny. There was a two-three ounce steak a tiny scoop of potatoes and one mushroom for £20. Do not eat at restaurant. Breakfast is good though. Would recommend staying there but eat dinner elsewhere.

Immaculately restored, excellent food

Remembering the private house as a child, I was delighted to see it beautifully transformed into a first class hotel. The change was so good that I had difficulty spotting what was original and what was new. However, the real joy was being able to enjoy superb food at prices which brought a smile to our faces. Go now before they rise to their justified level. This establishment is one of the jewels in the Scottish Country House Hotel crown.

Fantastic Hotel it was absolutely gorgeous and the service was first class. The food was also the best I have ever tried. Superb place, I would definitely recommend it.

A fantastic experience

My family and I went for a meal on Sunday 30 April for my sister Helens birthday treat. From the minute we stepped into this refurbished Victorian Georgian house, we were impressed. The decor is wonderful and true to period with many original features with everything else in keeping. The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. The best experience was yet to come though. We went for the Sunday lunch menu which was priced at £15.95 for 2 courses and £18.50 for 3.every mouthful was sensational and I would easily have been willing to pay 25% more although the bill for seven with 2 rounds of drinks came to £115! This is a new venture and I hope it is a success so everyone get your skates and on and head down for the experience of your life!
