Wonderful break

from sulumac
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Marriot in Inverness for 2 nights- december 1st to 3rd 2006.
We stayed in a standard double room. The room was fantastic, the bed was massive and had the most amazing fluffy mattress. It was well stocked with tea, coffee, hot choc and the usual biscuits. Everything was spotless.

We stayed bed and breakfast. Breakfast was 6am till 11am except on sunday when it was from 7.30am until 11.. we were very impressed at getting a long lie! For breaklast there was an amazing buffet selection of continental and traditional cooked items as well as cereals.. Tea, coffee and fruit juices in big jugs which you could help yourself to as your required them.

You had full use of the leisure facilities which were fantastic. They were open from 6am till 11pm.. we made use of the pool, sauna, steam room and the gym.. there is also a beauty therapy and hairdressers which could be handy if you needed them. The whole of the health club was always spotless and the staff were very helpful.

The hotel itself is a short taxi away from the town centre about 5mins.. on a nice day it would maybe take 15mins to walk into town.

I can't really fault anything about the stay. We Had a wondeful time and will be back.

Fantastic Weekend Break

from Miketvp
My wife and I booked this hotel for a weekend break away in January. On arrival at the hotel, there had been a mix up with the bookings and instead of the double we had booked some months earlier, we were offered a twin room, and told that there were no doubles available. Less than happy, as we had planned the trip for some time, and had paid a lot of money for the hotel, we stood our ground and stated we were not prepared to take a twin room. The receptionist was not at all helpful, and actually quite rude to us, stating that there were no other rooms available, and we would have to put up with a twin. After expressing how unhappy we were further, a manager eventually came and dealt with us instead. She could not have been more helpful. We were immediately upgraded to a business room, which was a larger room, and came with a small lounge type area. With exception of the one receptionist, the staff were very helpful and very friendly, and could not have made us feel any more welcome. The bellman even lent us a map and umbrella to take out with us during the day.

The hotel itself was lovely, very comfortable and well looked after. The main restaurant, although not particularly cheap, was exceptional! The service and food was just superb! Cheaper food could also be purchased in the more relaxed conservatory, and again was of a very good quality.

We also both made use of the pool and spa, and they were well kept, clean and were not at all busy.

Apart from the initial booking in problems, we loved the hotel, and really enjoyed our weekend in Inverness, we would definately return to the hotel in the future and would recommend it to others.

Wonderful stay!

from V57
The best bed ever. good food, good service. fantastic breakfast! we stayed there for Christmas Eve and that was a wonderful stay.
Lounge with fireplace: perfect to relax at the end of the day with an aperitif. the restaurant in the conservatory looked very nice, a bit too quiet though. But definitely the room and the breakfast were the best part of it.

Nice hotel

from ash108
Very nice hotel with excellent rooms. The double rooms are very spacious with the most comfortable bed you could wish for.

Food was very good especially the breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Lounge bar was dull with no real atmosphere. They have a pianist in the lounge most evenings which is a bit annoying. Could do with adding a bit more of traditional scotland to the mix instead of the afore mentioned piano muzak.

Recommened for the room standards and food though

Value for money at last

from STIRLING26
Just returned from a great 2 night stay at the Marriott ,Inverness. We had booked a quality room on the hotels own web site as it was the best rate.Room was very large and comfortable as well as clean and tidy.We could have upgraded to a suite for twenty pounds a night but this room was more than adequate for size. The breakfasts were first class-all the food was fresh and a cook on hand at all times. The staff were all very warm and friendly. We were in room 8 which had a floor above us and on the odd occasion you did get some footstep noise but nothing too annoying.
Didn't eat main meals at the hotel as with most they were above average price , however there are dozens of places to eat in town which is only a 5 minute drive away.
Would thoroughly recommend a stay here.
Also has its' own leisure centre which we didn't have time to use but looked good.
Yes,some of the decor in the public areas/stairs were showing some wear and tear from heavy use but nothing to make you question the standard of the hotel.
As always with Marriott - great beds and plenty of pillows.

lovely hotel

from brushtracy
This is the second year running that we have stayed at this hotel at this time and we have no complaints about the hotel at all. The room was nice and big. The bed is to die for.... The service and breakfast are first class for the money you pay. However, I couldn't say the same about the spa. Yes it is nice and clean but what spoiled it for us is that although it clearly states that no children under the age of 8 are allowed into the hot tub or steam room, parents were allowing their children to use these facilities without proper parental control. It's only a small point and I think we were unlucky as we never experienced this problem last year. Perhaps management could monitor the situation.

Excellent hotel, location and staff.

from ScottGlasgow
We have now stayed twice at the inverness marriott and on both occasions we have not seen a hotel in the area that could compare on price or location.

The hotel itself is extemely easy to find and is only a £2 taxi ride into the heart of Inverness. The hotel is located next to a golf course and a park and is extremely peaceful.

The staff we have always found to be extremely helpful, particularly the staff on teh front desk who were always happy to recommend and book restaurants and order taxis etc...

The rooms were large and bright and breakfast in the morning was also excellent with the full range of fruit, continental and cooked breakfast available.

If we go back to Inverness in the future I would stay here again no question.

Great Bed, Poor Service.

from Loganbdm
We stayed at the Marriot Inverness for one night on our honeymoon. The rooms are nice American sized hotel rooms with big bathrooms and we also had a huge king sized bed. The pillow top on the mattress was one of the most comfortable things I've ever slept on. The only negative was the staff. They weren't friendly, warm or nice at all. I got the impression that it was a chore to check us in, and they offered no help what so ever when one of our adapters blew, and when we asked for a place to get internet service. Great room, horrible service!

Service with a snarl

from spikeyd
Arrived at 4pm where we were promptly allocated a twin room not yet ready for occupancy, until we were able to produce our confirmed reservation for an exec double which then caused several raised eyebrows as we are a lesbian couple. Fortunately Nicole appeared and saved the day by upgrading us and apologising profusely. Unfortunately this did not extend to some of the other staff, especially at breakfast, who made snide comments and inisisted on asking what our room numbers (note the plural there) were before we were seated. This hotel needs to get its act together by smartening up it over-chintzed and tired rooms and retraining some of the staff with attitudes that are stuck in he dark ages. We would sooner impale ourselves on a rusty spike rather than return.

Extremely disappointing and not worth the expense

from Marsm
In a three week tour of 4 countries of Europe, our one night in Inverness was the only disappointment. We had booked and paid for one room for a family of 4 through Orbitz. We did the same at a Marriott in London and encountered no problems at all with that reservation. We arrived in the early evening after a long and lovely drive through the Scottish Highlands, only to be told the hotel has no rooms for 4 people and we would have to purchase a second room. They took no responsibility for the error in reservation, instead choosing to blame it on Orbitz. It was interesting that through the course of the conversation they eventually did admit that they have family rooms but there were none available that night, and then later I learned they also have suites. The unfriendly and unhelpful women at the desk continued to insist that the only solution was for me to pay for a second room. No offer of free breakfast to compensate for the error. No discount offered on the second room. In fact, there was nothing positive in it for me and my family, the only solution was to the benefit of the hotel. I completed the feedback form and sent it to Marriott corporation and have heard nothing. I called Orbitz who said they would look into it and resolve it within a week, and again have heard nothing. My best advice is to stay away from this hotel, if there is any problem, they will not resolve it to your benefit. Although there was one woman who worked there who was friendly and helpful with directions, the rest of the staff we encountered were inflexible and rude. This hotel was definitely not worth the expense and it ruined our visit to Inverness. The rooms themselves were adequate compared to other places we stayed and the pool closed 1/2 hour early that evening so we couldn't even go for a swim after a late dinner.

Top Local Tips for Inverness

Fly don't drive Inverness is a pain to get to from England. If / When I go back to the Scottish Highlands we'll be flying and then hiring a car, rather than driving up

Comfortable shoes! Wear comfortable shoes if you have to tackle that big hill on the edge of the town! It's also a great town to walk around site seeing. Be sure to visit the tourist agency and take some day trips, especially to Loch Ness and Isle of Skye. The coffee shop opposite McDonalds has good food. I loved Inverness!

Restaurant Reservations Essential At busy times, you should absolutely call ahead for a dinner reservation.
